Guest Matt Whitfield Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 I went and brought a NetGem i-Player (Freeview DTT adapter) over the weekend, for £130 in John Lewis, and found that it does indeed work perfectly well through an indoor ariel with ariel booster :-D I thought I'd post about this as I'd had this discussion with a few people on here a while ago. I'm not sure if the same is true with all Freeview adapters, but the receiver in this one certainly seems to be good. As long as you can get a decent picture with your indoor ariel/booster setup then you should be fine with a Freeview adapter like this. Apart from that I have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed with Freeview. The only good thing about it seems to be iTV 2 and BBC Three, and those are only any good from time to time... Oh, and the EPG seems pretty lame - it doesn't always update what's on now and next until you roll over each channel in turn.
Guest ajb3000 Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 It depends how far away from the transmitter you are, where I live even with a roof mounted ariel we can't get Freeview and Analogue TV is crap. Bless Sky Digital :)
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 Ah well, yes indeed... if your analogue TV picture is terrible anyway, then you certainly won't be able to get Freeview! But I live in SW London and therefore don't have any problems :-D I was just impressed that you didn't necessarily need an external upgraded ariel - I didn't fancy having to pay for that as well as the Freeview adapter! It wouldn't have been so free then...
