No calls/messages even though phone on...

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this - I did a search but couldn't find anything similar...

I got an irate phone call on my home phone yesterday from a mate wanting to know why i was ignoring him yesterday. Apparantly he had sent me 2 text messages, both of which he had delivery reports for (he is on Orange too) and called my SPV 3/4 times and left several voicemails.

During this time though I was sat in my front room watching the play-off final with my handset sat next to me - it also had full signal.

I tested it by calling from my landline and although it was ringing in my ear, the SPV showed no signs of life. I re-booted the handset and it then started working (although i never got the text messages)

Wierd....
