Latest: Scrub that!

I RTFM and noticed I don't have the tiny G symbol in the status bar - which means I don't currently have GPRS! That would explain my problem described below!

You can tell I am a 'newbie'

===========================

Hi all,

I have just had my spv network enabled on Orange as of this PM. I tried to connect to my orange.net email account using GPRS to send and receive mail (having set this up on the spv) - The phone tries to connect - 'Dialling' briefly appears in the top status bar, before coming back with 'Connection Error' verify your dial up or proxy settings are correct.

This led me to look at the thread in the Articles forum that gives a list of what the settings are for the various connections to Orange UK. A couple of fields I have on the phone under GPRS settings are user id and password, these are both blank - should they have something in them?

Have a look at the Orange UK GPRS settings on page2.

I think there's a couple of extra settings.

Note these settings will be for you a contract SIM.

If you were pre-pay the APNs would be payginternet & paygwap.

Just spoken to Orange, who tell me that it can take up to 24 hours between new phone connection and GPRS provisioning - so I need to wait until this time tomorrow to find out if it works :)
