Guest Drift3r Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Hiya, I'm having trouble installing software that was initiated through the PC. When the Add/Remove program screen appears on the PC and says check your phone for further install options, I can see on my phone screen the text saying download completed, but then it jumps back to the home screen without giving me the option of installing to phone or storage card.... I've restarted the phone and checked to see if software was installed, but nothing seems to have happened. Out of curiosity, could it ba lack of space on my phone? My free physical memory is 1976k and IPSM folder is 2.18Mb. Cheers for your help!
Guest simon11 Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 I am having the same problem. Memory shortage can apparently cause this problem. I have 3.5 mb free and I am having trouble with 174k program. Hope someone can help?? Simon
Guest Palindrome Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 What's the software? If it's not compatible then nothing happens on the phone.
Guest Drift3r Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 I've tried it with the Registry Editor program with no luck.
Guest Drift3r Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 Bah, this is actually happeneing on all my programs that install from the pc :) even those that I've bought. Any ideas anyone? I'm going to be a bit stuck if I can't install new apps anymore.
Guest yatpeak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Is your phone de-certed? I believe it needs to be to install the registry editor. Wyatt

I'm going to be a bit stuck if I can't install new apps anymore. Do you have all-explorer installed? or if your phone is decerted Smart explorer? If you do go to IPSM Windows AppMgr Install and remove anything you find there, as this can prevent new installs from happening. Activsync will not see this folder only the two apps above can.
Guest morpheus Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Like awarner said, go to IPSM Windows AppMgr Install, via explorer on the SPV Here you will find the CAB files for the software that didn't download. Click on each file and the software will load up properly. Morpheus
Guest yatpeak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 You can also get the CABs out of some programs before installing them on the phone using winrar. Look it up on download.com and you should find it. When you have the CAB, put it in the start menu and run it from there, and that should work. Good luck, Wyatt
Guest Drift3r Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Fantastic! That was the problem and has now been solved by removing those files within AppMgr/Install :) Crazy isn't it that we have to find out these solutions ourselves. How would Joe Bloggs figure that out? Well, all credit does go to this site for the wealth of helpful information! Cheers
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 It's called a barrier to entry, and is a serious threat to the platform's viability for the masses. On the other hand, we used to be able to fix our own cars... but not any longer. We'll probably moan about it when we no longer have the ability/need to fix our phones/PCs/PDAs...
