Guest pomegran Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Hi, I am looking into purchasing an SPV very shortly but I just wanted to confirm that I must have Windows XP or 2000 to use it with my PC. Is this correct? Or can I get by with Win98SE? Thanks Mark
Guest Lojt Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 You can use Win98 just fine, unless you plan to use the spv as a modem for your pc. For that, you need 2000/XP
Guest pomegran Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 That's great news, I'll look forward to my imminent purchase! Thanks Mark
Guest mike-oh Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 sorry to p**s on your bonfire sorta speak, but last time you couldn't install the update with 98se. Whether the next update will have this problem or not i don't know. Personally i do use 98se and active sync and all that runs fine. So yeah go ahead and get one, but don't say i didn't warn you if the next update wont install!
Guest clivewilliams Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Yep, I'm running Windows 98 (first edition!) at home - no problems. Now I think about it, I installed the update from work, using a Windows 2000 machine, so I can't comment on how this works on '98. Cheers, Clive
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 The update will not run on Win 9x/ME. There is a workaround if you are interested.
Guest mike-oh Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Yeah, my workaround was to go to my mates house who has xp and an spv! Hopefully they'll rectify for the next update. (my a***)
