Problem with screensaver and some SD RAM

Hi All,

Newbie here,

Just to let others know of two problems I have encountered since becoming a SPV fan in case others get the same.

1. Installed "Pocket Candy" (beta software) to enable the cool screensavers, very impressive. Unfortunately it caused a problem, if the phone is key locked and its receives an SMS alert whilst the screensaver is on, pressing any key will do nothing. Even the power off button becomes inoperative. Last resort was to disconnect the battery whilst the fish (Aquarium saver) were still swimming around. No harm done to the phone but as a precaution I have removed the screensaver.

2. Purchased some 128 SD RAM modules and installed one of them to the SPV and another to a PDA. The one in the PDA caused no problems but the one in the SPV jammed on the way in, the more I pressed it to pop out the more it jammed in. After much faffing around with things to try and force it back out, I managed to get it out. I compared the module to the one supplied by Orange and found that the ones I had purchased have a label stuck to both sides, one stating the manufacturer ( VIKING ) and on the reverse a barcode, these labels where enough to stop the module from popping out. Removing the labels and the goo they leave behind has cured the problem.

PS. great site

PPS. any others sitting on the fence wondering to get a SPV or even wait for the next model, my advice is buy it now. It is an unbelievable impressive bit of hardware ( just got crap keys which you get used to within a day ) everything else will blow your socks off.

The SD card problem is well known, i had that problem, some have a little indent ( or whatever you wanna call it) for the label to fit into but some just have the label stuck straight on top of the card and this makes it extrude from the card and i had to remove the label from my SD card to fit in the phone properly :?

PS:Welcome to the site

Wish I had known before hand, it caused no end of grief, brand new phone and broke it already, took forever poking it with needles to get enough of it back out to pull it back. At one point I was ready to follow the instructions on how to take your phone apart

Thanks
