ScanSoft's X|mode Multimodal System enables a new breed of applications that deliver simple, powerful user interactions on personal wireless devices. By combining robust Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-To-Speech (TTS) technologies with mobile Internet and multimedia technology, X|mode Multimodal System enables rapid development and deployment of true multimodal applications, combining voice, visual and audio interfaces on a single mobile device and a single session.

Multimodal interfaces simultaneously blend speech, touch and graphics, so that users have fluid, efficient access to information systems through voice commands, touch controls, or a combination of both. X|mode Multimodal System allows wireless carriers and service providers to extract new value from existing systems or generate new offerings that improve customer access to information.

ScanSoft Inc. announced a suite of software support for developing and deploying "multimodal" applications on smart handsets, tablet PCs, and other wireless devices.

The support works with client devices running Pocket PC, Smartphone, Windows CE/NT/2000/XP, J2ME, BREW, and Symbian software platforms.

Sounds quite good to me, i like the idea of speech recognition and text to speech :wink:
