Guest Floydian1 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I have the GPRS in use icon on my SPV in the top right hand corner and can't seem to get rid of it, I've messed around with the data settings to get rid of it, tried turning the phone off/on, it's still there? Should it be there? :?:
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 No it should not always be there. If it's the small G, have you tried just pressing the end call button? I know it sounds stupid but I have to ask.
Guest Floydian1 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Yes, it goes for a few moments then comes back!
Guest martin Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Thats a new one :? When you enter a web address in IE, does is say dialling or does go straight to finding and connecting ?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Do you have any form of Task Manager? if you do try running it and see what apps you have running in the background. Also have a look at the MSN settings.
Guest Floydian1 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 finding site..... then page can't be found
Guest Matt Kirby Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Floydian1: Just to double (tripple?) check: There are two GPRS icons seen on the top row. The first icon is a large "G" in a box. This icon is seen just right of center. This icon means you are in range of a network cell that supports GPRS. If this is the icon you always have showing then you have nothing to worry about - you are not using GPRS at that moment, you just could if you wanted to. The other icon is a small "G", above bars indicating signal strength, replacing the usual signal strength bars. This is seen on the far right of the display. This is only shown during active GPRS connections. If this is the one constantly showing then you might have something strange happening. I assume from your first post that it's the small G icon that you are having problems with, but I just thought that I'd make sure!
Guest adamsweeting Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I am getting the same thing........ GPRS is dialling or something, then if I press the end call button, it goes away. But 5 mins later it will do it again. Any ideas you guys ?
Guest martin Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 The only thing I can think of that might connect to GPRS automatically is MSN messenger. see this topic It's worth checking although I can't seem to replicate your problem.
Guest c_n69 Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Yeah i am having the same problem, ever since i tried getttin my phone unlocked by Orange!
Guest sokim Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I'm having a similar problem but different  The first time I connect to the internet - no problem  later when I try to connect all I get is dialing for about 10 minutes  and when I try to disconnect the G, top right stays on for another 5 minutes    Orange are trying to sort problem, will they have a clue?????
Guest Will Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 AFAI have been told/guess/deduced. the dialling bug is due to a 'faulty' transmitter. Bug orange about it. they might sort it out. I get it here if i reboot the phone outside the front of my house, but not if i reboot at the back... It's that sensitive!! Will
