Guest paddy_mcnulty Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I'm sure that this has been asked before, but, if I de-cert my phone to download freeware etc, does that invalid my Orange Care insurence? Just wondering in case I do something bad to the phone(SPV)... :?:
Guest Richie M Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Yep, been asked loads :D and the answer is no it wont, Orange supply a de-cert so how can it
Guest paddy_mcnulty Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Thanks, put my mind at rest. Well, off to de-cert my phone then...
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 And you can always (de-decertify *cackle*) lock your phone again... of course they probably have your IMEI number *shrug* - but I don't really think it would matter...
Guest mike-oh Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Incedently the decert program found in the articles section is sh** hot! However i think it's preferential to do a hard reset before hand but apparently not 100% necessary. I needed to do one anyway so the program was perfect for me!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 However i think it's preferential to do a http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset before hand but apparently not 100% necessary. Err if you use Will's decert app then you have to do a hard reset as the provxml files can only be copied during the initial bootup after a hard reset at any other time this cannot happen. but the decert app is the dogs dangley bits
Guest mike-oh Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 going off topic slightly but it was mentioned in the original thread that people had had success without hard resetting. didn't it?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 It's getting too late for me to read 5 pages posts on the decert app , but as I helped to test it and from previous posts to do with decerting to my knowledge it has only been possible to use the provxml files that are altered on an in intial start up. the system does not look at these files at any other time. If you can find the relevent post please let me know and I'll test it out :D
