Being stuck on headset is a known hardware problem, the only real solution is to get a replacement

I'm afraid not  Like I said it's a hardware problem.

I presume you have tried blowing into the socket, using a cocktail stick etc....

You could try and claim under warrany but even then because the phones second hand

it may not be valid.

Another solution if you're brave is to take the phone apart and try and sort the contacts for the headset

yourself but I would not recommend it.I'm afraid not :D Like I said it's a hardware problem.

My 14-day-old SPV has started to suffer from intermittant 'stuck in headset' problems  .

As you might expect, most of the time mucking around with cocktail sticks or inserting/removing the headset plug sorts things out although on a couple of occasions I've found it necessary to remove the battery and squeeze the back of the case in the vicinity of the rubber insert. For some reason, doing this and then re-inserting/removing the headset plug has sorted it every time when other apporaches have failed. (A caveat with this is that I managed to accidentally push the rubber insert *into* the phone with a fingernail and had to coax it out with a screwdriver). Apart from a little collateral damage in and around the rubber insert (the artwork on the serial/IMEI label is wearing off) this doesn't seem to be doing any harm to the phone. Presumably it's flexing something inside which is helping to sort out the headset socket.

Anyway, this afternoon I rang O to get a Care replacement. They gave me the 'that problem is not in our diagnostics' routine and sent an action to TS  . Apparently I stand a chance of a call back on Monday - if I don't get a 'yes, we'll be sending you a replacement tomorrow' call I'll be back onto them.

Until then I guess I'm rationing the MP3's :D

Has anyone else reported this problem and got a response along the lines of "oh yes that's a known problem we'll send you a replacement straight away"?

Cheers, Mark.
