Guest MPJ Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 One of the main reasons I got my SPV was because it has a large screen and thus I can make the font big in most places as I have very poor eye site. I think it might be usful if I could get the phone to display a picture of the caller for me, shapes or pictures can be easier to recognise than text. But which bit of software to get? I would like the screen to be un cluttered, with the picture quite large (ish). If there was the ability to change the screen colours to get good contrast as well that would be great. My phone is still cert locked, I've not managed to unlock it yet. Can anyone recomend some software?
Guest nobznss Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 I'll tell you the program that I use and really like. Go to Monolithix's site at http://www.monolithix.org/SPV_software.html and look into getting smartface. It's a very good program (in my opinion if that matters). It's got a lot of features that are easy to use and are still flexible. But the first thing you'll need to do is to de-certify your phone. I don't know of any certified programs for picture caller ID. Hope this helps.
Guest MPJ Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Thanks, I have tried the software and it seems fine, don't know why the feature was not included as standard!
Guest nobznss Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Ya, I'm not sure. I wish it was, but hey that's the beauty of this phone. If it doesn't come with it you can still get it!
Guest 911 Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 how do you install this caller id software in the phone? what folder should i paste it? is it auto install? Thanks for your help
Guest nobznss Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 It should be a .cab file. Go here http://www.coolsmartphone.com/install-stuff.htm and check out how to install it. Hope this helps!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 If it is a .cab file via Activsync place the cab file in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories then when you go ProgramsAccessories on the phone the file will be there, just run it and it will self install
Guest capt_janeway Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 Just to be nosey - I actually run mine from IPSMWindowsstartup so it runs automatically from when you switch your phone on. There is also a great guide with the prog
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 Just to be nosey - I actually run mine from IPSMWindowsstartup so it runs automatically from when you switch your phone on. The only reason I suggest adding the Accessories part is that you then do not need to switch the phone off then on again to see the file  Also I would not advise placing it in the Startup folder as on startup there is a lot of things happening and adding an install at the same time may lead to problems. I prefer to play safe :D
Guest Vector Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 The only reason I suggest adding the Accessories part is that you then do not need to switch the phone off then on again to see the file :D Or you can just go into the games folder for example and press back and the .cab will be there
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 Or you can just go into the games folder for example and press back and the .cab will be there :D Then that's an extra key press
Guest capt_janeway Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 Awarner i agree regarding installation sorry - I meant I moved mine to startup after I installed
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 I find IA Caller ID is by far the best software of it's kind atm, and it has a demo version! www.IAStyle.com P
Guest fozzie Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 Agree with Paul. It's easy to setup, use and is nicely integrated with your contacts. And, the templates bring a smile to my face  (Ok, who's responsible for the Chinese style ones that have recently appeared over at IA Style?!)
