And just watch it you whippersnapper Davidrm! Its us 'lucky' tax payers who are getting you educated (And paying for Mono to spy on us I guess! :lol: )

I stumbled across this picture during a random surfing session one day. I was searching for images not web pages so the picture appeared on google completely out of context with whatever site it came from. The humour that struck me was that it is not an obvious P*ss take and actually looks like it could genuinely be an advert from the Hong Kong tourist information site. I seem to remember adverts on telly many years ago for Canada with much the same sort of "hook line". On the other hand, if the picture is a P*ss take then it is certainly a more subtle & satirical approach than your standard, bad taste , 1 day after the event type effort that populates the internet for all to see on a regular basis. You will never see me poke fun at the sept 11th events or other episodes of human tragedy. Just for your information Mono, the total worldwide death toll from SARS as of 10:00AM 3rd June 2003 is 770 not 2000+ as you state. Car crashes now claim more than 500,000 deaths a year, and injure another 15 million people. In 100 years there have been more than 20 million car-related deaths worldwide. In 1984-1985 over 1 million people starved to death in ethiopia. A further 11 million people are currently ay risk of history repeating itself. People dont get all high and mighty about statistics like these though and do you know why ? Because the media are bored with stories like that and dont report on them anymore . The brutal truth is that, at the moment, SARS is fashionable ! Its in every newspaper, on every tv channel morning noon and night because thats what is selling at the moment and its all too easy for people to say "SARS..... Thats a bad thing" and get all moralistic about it without really ever having to know the first thing about it. How many people on this forum have had a close friend or familly member touched by the hand of cancer over the same period of time since the first reported case of SARS was announced? I wouldn't mind betting that the numbers would scare the living daylights out of you Mono. I am not in anyway trivialising the deaths of 770 people and if anybody has a friend or relative that has contracted SARS then you and that person have my genuine sympathy. I just think its time to put things into perspective a little. One final point before I go and have a quiet lie down somewhere is this :- For the last 3 months or so one of your regular forum members signature has read along the lines of "When I see people on TV who are starving, I just cry. I mean, I'd like to be that thin but not with all the flies and death and stuff.” — Singer Mariah Carey". This, as far as I'm aware has evoked no reaction from your good self at all, which, considering the above statistics and coupled with your above quote is rather an unbalanced view of the world dont you think ? Not Mine :- A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned." Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned." It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force. "Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned." OR "That team totally pwned us."

You have no idea how this will affect me, or how the case you state has effected me.
