I am trying to delete a folder from the startup folder and I keep on getting:

Cannot delete file startup: Access is denied

Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not set as read-only and you have permission to copy this file type.

I have plenty of free memory.

Any ideas what is happening, I have tried to restart the phone a couple of times now.. but still no luck.

I have successfully managed to rename the file.

Welcome to the site

What folder are you trying to delete and why?

The reason you may not be able to delete it is because it is in resedent memory, the phone will not

allow you to remove any files etc that has just used or is using in the background.

Also are you trying to do the deletion on the phone or via Activsync?

I am trying to delete a file from a folder.. it is a wav file that plays at startup. so therefore will be resident in the phone's memory.

Is there anyway to get rid of it???

I just found taskmanager now and going to install it in 5 minutes and see if I can stop it that way.

I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for you help.

Anytime

I'm out in a bit but I'm sure someone else will step in if you are still stuck.

As for startup sounds have a look in the Articles section for midnight's registry tweaks

(which you need the regedit app found at www.monolithix.org )

as the startup sound does not live in the startup folder.

I have tried Task Manager to end all running tasks and I have also tried to use Smart Explorer and delete it that way.

But I still have no luck... Anybody have any ideas why i can not remove this file?

In Task Manager choose tools and uncheck Hide System Apps then you will be able to see everything that

is being used, see if the file is listed there.

The be all and end all option is to do a hard reset but that's a bit drastic.

If it's just a normal .wav file you had there I'll try it my self later (tomorrow) and see if I can simulate the

problem as well.

Cheers for that awarner.

I never noticed the show hidden apps option.

I found the soundplayer.exe and killed that and then the file was able to be removed from the foler.
