Guest nOOdles Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 All of a sudden my phone cannot seem to connect to anything. It will dial the GRPS (the G appears above the signal) but IE says the page cannot be found, MSN won't log in and requesting email comes back as no server found. I havent changed any settings since friday night (when it stopped working) and i've traveled around a bit and this still hasnt made a difference. Any ideas? Si
Guest James Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 same here since friday mate!!!! (north devon)
Guest FragMeister Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I had the same problem all day yesterday, no email, internet etc. I tried it once i got to work this morning, in a different area, and it worked ok? In Sussex yesterday, we had bad atmospheric conditions, so although i was able to make voice calls, maybe the high pressure knocked out the GPRS?
Guest mike-oh Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I usually find a power cycle fixes most gprs problems. If it still aint working after that it's most likely a network fault and you'll just have to wait a while!
Guest nOOdles Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Cheers for the responce - seems like it was a network problem then. I couldnt get it to work across Oxfordshire, Bucks or Herts so figured it couldnt be a network prob... but its all ok now... wierd.
Guest strathclydezero Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Quicker than a power cycle turning the radio on and off can sort it. Pleased to say I had no GPRS problems in May.
Guest James Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 still got my problem. still get the page cannot be found. anyone else still got the problem?
Guest James Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 its working again! what was that all about?
Guest martin Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 its working again! what was that all about? Maybe you imagined all the errors
Guest defence5 Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I still have the same problem  Managed to speak to someone at Orange tonight who said they had major problems with the GPRS network, and were expecting it to coninue for "a couple more days". The only piece of advice he had to offer was to "remove the battery for at least five minutes - this seems to boost most peoples GPRS reception".
Guest James Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I still have the same problem    The only piece of advice he had to offer was to "remove the battery for at least five minutes - this seems to boost most peoples GPRS reception". you what?
Guest defence5 Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 you what? This is exactly what the guy at Orange told me to do. For some reason, I didn't bother trying it.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 Is this still going on? I've had my SPV for a fortnight now and with the exceptiopn of a couple of days, haven't been able to get any GPRS goodies. On Sunday Orange told me to change the primary & secondary DNS settings to a 158.x.y.z IP but that didn't help. I'm starting to get a bit pissed about this now and wondering if Orange have a clue what to do?
Guest defence5 Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 .... and wondering if Orange have a clue what to do? No, they don't. Different people give you different reasons for the problem, and different ways to fix it. It is *really* annoying when they do that
Guest James Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 i did not even bother to call them because i know they are useless. i just waited and was prepared to give it a week or so. different answers to the same question from different people and none of the 'fixes' ever work! once upon a time those guys were s*** hot then along came the spv and no extra training for those guys!
Guest morpheus2702 Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 So I'm wondering how to handle it? Be patient, understand there really is a problem, or simply go ballistic at Orange and see what happens? Oh s***! That battery thing really works!
Guest defence5 Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 I am still unable to connect to GPRS after 13 days (yes count them - thirteen days!), and Orange still insist that this is a network wide problem that is affecting many users. So is anyone else still unable to connect to GPRS?
Guest morpheus2702 Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 yep mate but its bullshit that it is a network problem. try turning radio off and on and see if you get a connection.
Guest James Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 mine is fine now and i dont know of anyone who still has the problem
