SPV movies using Windows Media Convertor 9

Has anyone used this to convert DVD's yet.

I thought it would save time not having to run everything through stoick video first.

I usually go DVD, AVI, Stoick Video to WMV then Windows Media Conv to SPV size.

However I downloaded version 9 and I cannot work out how to change the options. I have changed alot but get too much hiss on the soundtrack to make it enjoyable.

Does anyone have an idiots guide like the chris benjamin one to help me out.

I cannot go back to version 7 as I`ve tried and for some reason version 7 now no longer reads any files at all.

Any help would really....erm help.
