Guest Will Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 OK i'm testing the water here: flame, post or pm me. Lots of people know about very specific areas of the SPV, but very few of us know every answer off the top of our heads. So have you got a 'specialist area', For example, I've a fair bit of knowledge about the structure of homescreens, and a fairly global knowledge of most stuff. If you have a 'specialist' area, could you write a short series of questions and answers on that area? Or if not, could you just make up the questions? other people will fill in the answers! The plan is that these Q&A's would be combined in a FAQ area, for people to browse. If you don't have a specialist area, but have a notepad full of stuff you always forget, settings/locations/workarounds, WE WANT THOSE TOO! If you are interested in helping, please post your area of expertise below, or just put 'general' in.. Typical Example: 'Where do I put .wav files so they appear in the list of ringtones?'- you should copy them to the directory IPSM/Application Data/Sounds, if this folder is not on your phone, you can safely create it, using activesync. If enough people pledge support, we'll take this further. Will
Guest midnight Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Of course i'll help, i will be creating more tutorials for budding photoshop artists, mainly aimed at homescreen skinning (some general photoshop tutorials, and maybe even some game sprite tips aswell) and of course, i'll continue to develop new registry tweaks and other phone modifications.
Guest Brody Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I've got some general info in text files that i'd be happy to contribute
Guest spacemonkey Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I'm not very good at off the top of my head information, but I'm very good at knowing the answers to questions... If you have already compiled a list of questions or something I'd happily contribute as many answers as I can think of.
Guest Richie M Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Yeah i'll chip in - time providing  Guess my areas are USBTerm ( god knows how many questions i answered on that) and Homescreens, and "General" :D
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I have a fairly wide spread array of trouble shooting tips
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Hard reset and failed installs, my most common answers  Then again these have been posted before in the Articles section but still need to be in faq
Guest tt5th Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 know a bit about the phone (mostly learned from you guys!) but my knowledge is of the Orange network, terms and conditions, tech stuff etc. Lets just say my work revolves around a large telecomms company.....! I am not an engineer however so please don't get too technical!!
Guest martin Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Started getting more involved on the GPRS side of things and also managed to answer a few of the SPV GPRS setup questions  . Spending more and more time with GPRS at work now. I know very little about the actual mobile phones or the terms and conditions but I have a technical background in GSM as a Telecoms Engineer which is also for a large telecoms company  Would try and answer any techie questions I can.
Guest amo Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I work for orange so could provide help with the network side of things i guess
Guest Tyrant_worm Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 See a lot of misconceptions with pretty much everything to do with how GSM and bolt on services work, I am trying to put together some stuff at mo., similar background to Martin.
Guest Will Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 Bump :? there must be more people who want to help!! Will
Guest HelloDave Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 I not great at thinking of questions, but I'll have a go at answering just about anything! I've got a reasonable general knowledge of everything SPV related, weakest point being the intricacies of homescreens. I'm probably quite good at video encoding (lots of experience through hassle with codecs), messed about with the bootloader/ROM images/WinHex a bit too much (deleted my WinCE ROM once ) and I can figure out most software as long as I've used it  Format conversion seems to be another favourite that trips me up every so often, so I can answer most stuff about converting wavs, tunes, pictures etc for SPV use.
Guest squall Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 ive not really got into the programming side of things, but i might be able to put together a few tips and tricks.
