Guest Darrenfranks Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Hi, Am having great difficulty in playing back a wav file i've put on the phone. I can see it in Sound Manager and when I select it I hear nothing. I've also tried to add it as a ring tone and all I get is a bleep noise Any suggestions?
Guest nobznss Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 It sounds like it has to do with the type of file it is. It should be a PCM wav file. That'll allow you to play it as a ring tone. Try that. Also try doing a search for ringtone. There should be some helpful tips there.
Guest Darrenfranks Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 cheers, any ideas how i knwo if its a PCM wav file? and if it isn't how do i convert it?
Guest nobznss Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Not sure there's a way to tell, although it may be under the properties of the file. It's real easy actually. Just open up sound recorder in windows (comes with the OS) and open the file. Click under "file," "save as" and change the name. At the bottom of this window should be a button that says "change" if memory serves me correctly. Click that, and in the drop down menu next to "format" make sure that it says PCM. Also the "attributes" you can mess with. The lower the bitrate the smaller the file. I personally go with 16000kHz 16 bit mono, but it's up to you. That compression makes about a 1 meg file per 30 seconds, but the sound quality on the phone is excellent. Play with it and see what you think. Hope this helps!
Guest Darrenfranks Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Having a play now - will let you know! Cheers
