Guest Han Derre Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Hi ! I'm totally new in here and I'm not that good with reg.edits and doesn't have a clue what HKEY_Locale_macine is..... What do I have to do to delte the stupid and annoying standard sounds and ringtones on my Qtek 7070 (which I think is another name for the Tanager) ? Another question: How can I use ringtones stored in the SD-card ? Please provide me with en easy-to-understand explanation on what software (if any) I need, where to get it, how to install it and how to use it. :D Any help will be higly appreciated !! best regards, Han Derre (a VERY frustrated Norwegian geek !!)
Guest Brody Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 There's no point deleting the standard ringtones and sounds as they take up very little space and will be restored from the ROM upon soft reset (restart). As for getting ringtones to run from the sd card, take a look at midnight's tweaks  Or look here for another of midnight's fine discoveries  Ps. For the tweaks you'll need PHM's Registry Editor (dl below), copy the .cab file to your phone (IPSMWindowsStart Menu) and then run it from programs :D Hope this helps :lol:regedit.Stngr_ARM.cab
Guest Speedy Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Hejsa og velkommen til dig. There is tons of apps, games and skins you should have, and its difficult to tell where it all is and what you need. The best thing would be to look at this forum thouroughly and perhaps visit some of these links: Good site about the SPV/Tanager www.coolsmartphone.com Midnights Site (excelent stuff, however down atm i think) www.way2access.net/midnight/ Software Site (gives a great and clear overview of what softwaer i currently available for the spv/tanager) www.monolithix.org/SPV_software.html Have a look at those sites and then the best thing to do is to make your way through the smartphone world by trying  Ofcourse if you have problems, just ask. btw there is also a danish forum section at the bottom of the index have fun
Guest Han Derre Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 There's no point deleting the standard ringtones and sounds as they take up very little space and will be restored from the ROM upon soft reset (restart). Ok, but is it doable ? And, if so, is it equally doable to delete the unwanted sounds permanently from the ROM ? One more thing. I've tried to install and configure the "SetTone" app. I just can't make it work properly. Can anyone please provide me with a fool proof describtion on how to install, configure and use it ? I'm sure I'm testing your patiente here, but bare with me please..... Han Derre
Guest Speedy Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 use midnights profile tweak see "ringtones on sd card" by midnight
Guest Will Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 It's technically doable.. removing the ringtones from the rom is only possible AFAIK by editing the flash image. Sorry can't help on settone, as i never used it.. sorry.. Welcome to the site tho! Will
Guest Han Derre Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 It's technically doable.. removing the ringtones from the rom is only possible AFAIK by editing the flash image. Welcome to the site tho! Will Hi ! It's me again....that annyoing neewbie with those stupid questions...... How do I edit the flash image ? Thanks a lot Will ! This site is the one that has helped me the most so far. I've been to other forums without having gotten any replies to my unbelieveable stupid questions. Hmmmm, what does that say for this forum ?? :D It was the same for me when I purchased my first iPAQ H5450 some time ago, I registered to a numerous forums to get tips and help on tweaking it. By now, I concider myself quite experienced on the iPAQ and I hope the same goes for the SmartPhone. So bare with me just a litte bit longer, ok ? I'm getting there....it just takes a little time.... Han Derre Oh...in case you wondered what the h.... my nic means.... In English the proper translation would be: "That guy"
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 You can't edit the ROM image without specialist hard and software...speak to florin_m if you're interested
Guest midnight Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 all the standard ringers are really small midi ringers and take up a total of around 10k (or something like that) and so, really, it just isnt worth deleting them
