Guest Exhaloprez Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Hi, Can the phone be used with PDA functions...calendar and contacts...without a sim card in the phone? If so, what do you need to do? Thanks.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Nope sorry....need a SIM card to access phone features.
Guest Bonzo Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I was intrigued by this and decided to try something I thought might work and suprisingly it did... if U turn the radio off before powering down the phone and removing the SIM card when U power it back up it allows access to the phone to use in a PDAesque way and allows U, as far as I tested, (contacts, calendar, tasks etc.), to use anything within the phone that doesn't require direct access to the SIM or a connection to the airtime provider... So it could just be my phone but I would have to grudgingly disagree with Monolithix and say yes U can if the radio is turned off before the SIM is removed...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Ah ok, i'd never thought of that workaround...its always prompted me for a device PIN (difficult to distinguish from the SIM PIN1) when booting, even with radio off... Edit-- and what do you know, it works. Nice tip
Guest Bonzo Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Yeah I noticed a while ago when I accidently turned the radio off that when I reset the phone it didn't ask for the un-lock code so I kind of figured it must have been the SIM code 8)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 Just as well as i seem to have misplaced my dummy SIM....
