The new low-price company in Denmark called Telmore has announced that they would have an introduction period of 3 months with free gprs and then find competing prices to the other companies.

The only reason I could find for not using radio-streaming ovwer GPRS is the high usage (high price). But since this is COMPLETELY FREE for 3 months, I can't really see why I shouldn't use radio-streaming.

Does anyone know how and where you can do this without having to use plug-ins from a site (or winamp)??

Or how about video-streaming, although it is below 56k?

Could be kewl showing off with live porn-streaming on your phone, but then again that's just me

Interesting...

I've been thinking a lot about what would happen if a rival network launched flat rate GPRS - whether people would defect taking their SPVs with them...

In the UK at least, I can definitely see that happening!

Does GPRS HAVE to be bought through your service provider? I mean, would it be possible for a third party company to offer GPRS (only) at a cheaper rate than the major networks, but still subscribe to Orange (or whoever) for your voice call & SMS's etc :?:

why not?

you can enter usernames and passwords in the connection details

orange could block it i guess, but im confused as to why it wouldnt be possible at least in theory

Because GPRS is nothing more than space on their network. In order for someone else to sell it Orange (or whoever) would have to sell some space on their network for someone to resell.

Now Orange do not like reselling any of their space.

However I can't see why this couldn't happen on Voda and O2 who have both done lots of airtime reselling through service providers.

So does that mean IN THEORY, that a third party company, could buy GPRS "space" from Vodafone, or 02 etc. and sell it to the end user :?: If so, because it was bought "in bulk", could it then be sold on much cheaper than the major networks :?:

I suppose IN THEORY yes, although how they would sort out the billing for it I don't know..... You would also have to be using their network so Orange customers could not use it....
