A'right Mate,

Welcome to the board.

AFAIK you can't delete anything in the Windows folder, they are actually files contained in the Rom I think.

Hope this helps

You can only delete files that are in the IPSM - I think, i've had no problems deleting files here.

You can either use the Explore function in Active Sync or a file management program on the SPV

Hope this helps

Yup should have made that a bit clearer eh?

You're right it's only the root Windows folder thats contained in the Rom. They just get rewritten everytime you boot anyways.

Cheers all

IMHO you don't really want to delete a lot of things from the phone when it's 'out of the box' state!

Just get a large SD Card, and install everything onto that.

Then your phone should run with ease, and have plenty of space on it.

Apparently on some iPaq's there is an app run at boot that clears the RAM (which i'm told is anything in the root dir of the phone).

It's possible something similar applies to SmartPhone, even with Windows. Unfortunately the reg keys concerning it are uneditable  (HKLMinit)

In whatever the case, deleting stuff in ROM will not add any space to any other part of phone AFAIK, so I don't see a point. I stand to be corrected.
