Guest sjp Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Hi all, I only recently heard about this phone and thought it way out of my reach, but thanks to a package deal, I got it free! I have been used to Nokia phones up until now due to thier robustness, but due to the possibilities of this phone I decided to go for it, and boy do i love it! I expected there to be bugs at first, like any new product (especially softwarer based!) running anything Microsoft, but the positive things like the sync to PC, outlook and classic games far outway the negative things. Just a few questions and niggles though (I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if I have posted it in the wrong place....and go on a bit?!) Media slot: I lost my card within a week of having my phone, drat! why did they put this slot there? so close to my bloody fingers to! And it flies out! couln't they adda catch or something to lock it in? I think I might use a small peice of clear tape to stop it coming out next time! SMS: The person is in my contact list but does not display the name when I recieve the SMS? I tried the SMS fix but it disabled my SMS all together? A bug? :? Bottom multi-connector: this looks very flimsy on the USB holder, and there is no dust cover on the phones connector....anyone had any problems with it? :? Keys: with my fat fingers I press more than one key (I have the Orange SPV) since they are quite close together thanks to the SPV logo, but I noticed that it's brother has a better keyboard layout, can this be adapted and will the case be available? Great forum, great phone (thanks to the MMC slot and windows eh?) :D regards Si.

Guest JoelRae Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Presumably you've read elsewhere on the site about having to have numbers stored in international format in your contacts for the name to be displayed when you get a message? 8) (ie +44 instead of first 0 for UK numbers) I know there's a fix on monolithix's site that will automate the conversion process  Joel ps when you get a new sd card, give it a good shove into the slot ... it's a pretty tight fit, but you'll know when it's clicked into place!
Guest madu Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 When you click on the To: field to select recepients for an SMS, it will only show contacts that have a *mobile* number under their detail. If you transferred your contacts to SPV from wherever and mobile number appears under 'h' - home then that's your problem. To edit select Contacts>[contact]>Menu>Edit>scroll down to mobile. TIP: When dialling, enter contact name T9 style (ie 5646 for John) and hit left/right to select h/m/w/sms -> home/mobile/work/sms. If you click (action key) SMS it takes you to new message straight away.
Guest sjp Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Hi All, thanks for your replies, I'm still in awe of this phone and still keep showing it off! sad eh? I do miss my bloomin MMC card that came with my phone (the one I lost) but cant afford another just yet as I want the 256mb one off www.ebuyer.com (the cheapest I found)! Never had a problem, the card should click in/click out. Like a retractable biro.It did click in, but I think it just as easier clicked out again! I really dont know how or where this happened as I was drunk! But it has made me aware that it can happen so will still 'tape' it in. Which SMS fix? And how has it disabled your SMS? I dont remember what fix, but I remember not being able to send or receive SMS at all, but once I removed the fix, all was fine again. Bottom multi-connector: this looks very flimsy on the USB holder, and there is no dust cover on the phones connector....anyone had any problems with it? :?Never had any problems just thought I'd ask, I suppose it depends on where the phone is kept (or dropped!). Mine is kept in my pocket which sometimes comes into contact with my keys and has already got scratched. I was worried about getting dirt or fluff within the connector (I noticed a lot of debris got into most nokia phones - side speaker etc) and causing problems with connection. Keys: with my fat fingers I press more than one key (I have the Orange SPV) since they are quite close together thanks to the SPV logo, but I noticed that it's brother has a better keyboard layout, can this be adapted and will the case be available?Nope:http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=64782 Oh well, maybe in the future? Thanks again! regards Si.
