Guest andyg Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Wonder if anyone can help - on most standard Nokia phones, there is an option to send DTMF strings while on a call. This is useful for using telephone banking, and more importantly using calling card services etc. to get cheaper international calls. Is there any way of having a send DTMF option during calls on the Orange SPV - either a menu option I haven't been able to find yet (!) or a software download? Any help / tips much appreciated. Guest fozzie Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Hi and welcome to the board. Unfortunately there isn't an option to be able to send DTMF tones from your contacts list  You can off course just press the keys and the approriate DTMF tones are sent. This obviously isn't as good as sending them from the contacts list though!
Guest Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 You can send DMTF tones from the contact list to use for phone banking etc. Just store the string of numbers you need to send as DMTF after the phone number- the SPV will try to dial the number, which it does by sending DMTF tones. You don't specificaly need to mark that string as DMTF (the same is true on Nokias - I have never understood why they put in a menu option for something that the phone does automaticaly). You will probably need to add a few pauses within the string (especialy after the phone number to give the computer on the other end a chance to answer the call) to add a pause switch from 123 mode to abc mode and insert a "p". I have used this method with Nat West phone banking with no problems.
Guest fozzie Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Yeah, that's a good idea for the numbers that you know you want to send DTMF digits after dialling but isn't really practical for Contacts' numbers. However, saying that, I know someone that stores contacts numbers twice - one with the calling card number prefixed and one without. It'd be a whole lot easier with the send DTMF option though!
Guest andyg Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Thanks for the replies - shame no-one has written some kind of work-around programme or dialler software or something like that. Andy
Guest Martin@Home Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Bloody good idea that !! Maybe add to the "wishlist" section or can a mod move this topic there anyway ?
