Guest MadForIt Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Now that they seems to have cut prices very aggressively, surely this means that Orange will have to do something about it's pathetic MB download charges???
Guest ajb3000 Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Do you realise the Orange are actualy the cheapest network in the UK for GPRS access? They don't have to do anything about them. 'Three' don't even have GPRS plans because you can only access their own services which are paid for per event.
Guest Brody Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Welcome to the forum MadForIt  Even though "3" don't offer GPRS they do offer competitive services so lets hope that the competition drive prices even further down  And cheer up ajb3000, this would decrease the price of a Planus SMS even more!! :D
Guest ajb3000 Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Sorry, had a stressfull day like you wouldn't believe
Guest Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 For a moment there I thought that this was going to turn into another "Orange are shafting us with high GPRS prices" thread!
Guest xanadu Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 I wouldn't have a Hutch '3' phone if it was free for life ! There is no comparison between '3' and Orange. Orange have a brilliant network, but '3' don't have a network that works properly, and only covers major cities. Orange don't need to cut prices. I don't mind paying a bit extra, if I am getting a good service, which I am
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Agreed. I played with a 3g phone yesterday and it was awful. Regarding 3's pricing plans - you mean to tell me you actually understand them? Have you downloaded their pricing pans PDF file from their website, all 12 pages of it. For a start - bundle or not, if you are not in 3G range (most of the country), but you are in 2G range (ie 02's network) you are charged 15p per minute to call a landline! To receive a "small" email it costs 5p and 25p to send one. 3G cheap - pull the other one!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 ... '3' don't have a network that works properly, and only covers major cities... And major trunk roads, video conversation at 100mph anyone?
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 *And when you go from 3G to 2G, your call drops. It does not switch from one to the other if you are on a voice call. *Not all of the 3G phones allow video calling!!!! *Not all of the 3G phones have email. *Video clips do not stream, they download first. It takes about 2 minutes to download a 2 minute clip. Shall I go on.....
Guest siu99spj Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 You don't need to. Its the same old story. Remember the flurry over WAP and the reality? It was just a gmmicky feature thrown into the phone. Still people bought the phones, waved them all over the shop and said 'Look what I've got. Its WAP'. Ugh! Strangely, I didn't notice a huge flurry over GPRS which really is useful (Proper web page browsing for one). Maybe its just me. Some people just have to have the latest and the (maybe not so) greatest. The rest of us yearn, look longingly, but keep the cash in our pockets until its either at a price we want to/can pay, or we have no other option other than upgrade. Personally, I'm going to stick to Smartphone and 2.5G for now...
