Guest squall Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 does anyone know what the rules are on distrabution of material recorded of tv is? Ive just set up and installed a video capture card, so could record stuff for the spv encode it and then post, but i dont know if its allowed. :?:
Guest Gorskar Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 There is a site or two which does this already, but I'm not sure of the legality of this, so probably best if its not distributed on modaco. I have a tv card too, and while I'm still in uni halls (only 1 more week) a 10MB internet connection, so I was wondering if it would be possible for me to stream live TV over the internet to my phone. (I will be stuck with ADSL after that ) Probably not worth the hastle even if it is possible, as the unlimited GPRS tariff is coming to a close.
Guest madu Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 Hmm.. Depending on the 'stuff'.. Films are a definite no-no Adverts I would think can be distributed no problem (well there may be an isuue, they'll have to pay you for extra advertising) But the best bet is to go on the website of programme distributor and check the info there. Ususally they are all copyrighted. Best bet is to email them and ask for permission to 1)Capture to PC 2)Convert and distribute (free/non-commercial/non-beneficial) via so and so. They may in fact be rather interested and provide some help/stuff as a kind gesture. I personally would mention SPV and video conversion size/quality to make it clear that material will not be 1)widely used 2)have no real value other than on SPV 3)for the registered community of the forum (if Paul don't mind), and not any commercial/beneficial purposes. Above provided as 'methink' o'course :D
