Guest madu Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 So there is still no way to manage SMS messages that get 'accidentally' delivered to SIM memory, not phone. Dunno how that happens and I had no such problem for a while, but it happened again. Annoying. And can you imagine, you need another handset (ie No**a) to delete them from sim.. PS: For those who have not done this so far, go to Inbox>Menu>Options>Import messages from SIM Warning: You may be surprised/p****d!
Guest mattat Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I don't know any way of managing them on the phone, but I know a possible reason why they get there - certain phones including my last one (A Sony J70e) had an option to choose the type of message that was delivered. This decided whether it was sent to the RECEIVING phone's sim card or phone memory, or indeed one simply sent to the front screen (like many advertising SMS's). My guess would be that someone with a phone that works in this way has it set to send to SIM, and not to the phone.
Guest madu Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 True. But if the phone has no way of managing/notifying of messages in Sim then surely the phone must override the 'destination flag' or do I expect too much from 2001 technology? 8)
Guest mattat Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 My guess is that because this type of capability is quite rare, they decided not to build in any override, they forgot more obvious things such as character counters. Also such a capability would presumably override SMS's that are normally sent straight to the front screen (the commercial type) and as such I guess there is some commerical pressure to leave this method of advertising open.
