MP3's with the SPVx

I recently copied MP3's and music videos to my phone and I noticed something interesting...the MP3's file size is quite bigger than that of the videos. Is there a way to convert MP3's to a smaller file size?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The videos that are available don't have nearly as good sound quality as regular mp3s so can be smaller ... I guess you could resample the mp3 but an easier fix might be to convert your mp3s to wma's ... they're the same quality but smaller and your spv will play them fine. There's loads of converters around, search the site for a link!

Hope this helps

Joel? I experienced sound problems and skipping when listening to mp3s with > 128 kbps in quality... is it the same for the wma's? for instance, you can use Musicmatch to convert mp3>wma; wma>mp3; wav>mp3, etc but when choosing between 128 and 160 I played safe.

Any ideas?

Thanks

and another thing on different size of file between mp3 and wma... just converted a few and they are the same size (a few hundreds of kb less...). IS it worth losing time with yet more convertions?

Cheers

A 64kbps wma is ~ the same quality as a 128kbps mp3. So the 64kbit wma will be ~ half the size as a 128kbit mp3, and pretty much the same quality.

I play 64kbit wma's and 128kbit mp3's on my phone with no problems.

Like Mono says, 64kbps wma's are fine in terms of quality and should be a fair bit smaller than their 128kbps mp3 counterparts 8)

As far as the skipping goes, I guess media player is fairly demanding so make sure the majority of your apps are installed on your card if poss, and also try using Task Manager to see (and exit) what's using up memory ...
