I have been using my SPV for sometime on O2 with the wap GPRS settings - however, I want to use my free wap minutes to enable me to surf the internet - use orange update etc.

However - I cannot set my SPV to dial 915000 - the international code cannot be left blank!!!

I have tried putting 9 in the international code the 15000 in the number - but to no avail!!

Can anyone help!!!

If its internet surfing you want then try using this. ON O2 PAYG, I use WAP over GPRS and internet via CSD and both seem to be free for me anyway

Create proxy

Description : O2 WAP proxy

The Internet, WAP Network, 193.113.200.195, WAP

Create GPRS connection

Description: O2 WAP

The Internet, payandgo.o2.co.uk, payandgo, password

Create Dial Up connection

Description: O2 CSD

The Internet, 44, 7712, 927927, o2wap, password

In data connection make

Internet connection=O2 CSD

WAP connection = O2 WAP or O2 CSD

In Internet explorer, tick 'Automatically detect settings'.

You're the third person who has asked this as spider and jimmy_nugget also have the same problem.

Someone probably needs to contact O2 and tell them they have a possible call routing problem for mobile terminating calls. It might get resolved quicker if spider, jimmy_nugget and youself passed all three mobile numbers to O2 using the same fault reference, that way O2 might take it a bit more seriously. Its sometimes more difficult if your the only one complaining.

Martin those o2 settings work perfectly for me. I can get connected but shortly after the first page loads up i get disconnected. Do you know why this is happening mate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi jamzi

The IP connection to the internet is signified by the small G in the top right of your phone. This is not permanent connection and will be automatically closed down when no data has been transmitted for a pre-determined length of time.

The actual length of time the connection will stay active during the idle period (when no data is being transfered) can be set on the the phone.

Programs - Settings - Data Conenctions - menu/options

Idle disconnect after : (None, 30s, 1min, 5min, 10min)

Try setting it to 5 or 10 minutes - this will give you time to read the page before the connection closes.

Hi Martin

Thanks for replying so quickly. Ive changed my idle time setting to 10, the problem was i had it set at none!!!

Now this is going to sound like an amazingly stupid question but how do i get on wap and not the internet??!! I got my SPV and have searched everywhere and i just cant figure out how to get on wap??!! Please excuse my stupidity!!!

In the phone, there is internet software for HTML pages and WAP software for WML pages . In the above O2 pre-pay settings, the Internet connection uses a GSM timeslot and the WAP connection uses GPRS.

For the O2 WAP homepage, if you use htpp://wap.o2.co.uk then you will use the GSM network and wsp://wap.o2.co.uk will use the GPRS Network.

Try using wsp:// in the address to get WAP over GPRS

p.s. I don't think you are charged for either the GSM or GPRS data connections on O2 PAYG

I dont suppose you could talk me through setting up my o2 MMS please?

After much playing about with the O2 PAYG SIM, I discovered that these settings allowed me to send and recieve MMS. I did have a few problems though as the picture I had sent and recieved had become reduced in size :? This may have been caused by the original message size being too big so try keeping it less than 30K and see what happens.

I only tried O2 MMS a couple of times so I can't tell you much more.

I would start with sending and receiving MMS to yourself. Sending MMS to other mobiles or to a web address didn't seem to work although this could be general problem with O2.

let us know if it works for you.

errr thats cos I gave you the contract APN by mistake

Here it is again

I've just setup the O2 PAYG SIM on my phone today and sent 3 messages containing recorded sounds to myself so that bit still works. I'm not sure about sending it anywhere else cos I haven't tested it much. I also haven't checked what the charges are so watch out for that.

Still cant get it to work even with those settings mate.

Ive got a wee question for you martin, a couple of the wap sites i used to visit on my nokia 7650 (mopilot & wapocalypse), ive tried to visit on my spv but when i try to log in it doesnt. When i try to log into mopilot i get a screen telling me of an error and when i try to log into wapocalypse the screen just refreshes and i dont get any further than that. Do you know why this is? Is there a setting in the phone i need to change?

Thanks for all your help mate

Wapocalypse works ok for me. (I told you I was lucky  )

Try going to IE menu/options/memory and deleting ALL.

After that go back to wsp://www.wapocalypse.com and try again

If it still won't work try the full address

wsp://www.wapocalypse.com/logincheck.php?login=name&password=password

Change name and password to your login details.
