Guest macroft1 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 I have de certed my phone. It was a while ago. Will it stay this way? amd how do you check?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 It will stay this way unless you do a hard reset or the phone decides to do one of it's infamous partial resets. As for checking try running an uncerted app, there are plenty at mono's site www.monolithix.org which is the largest collection of uncerted apps on the web.
Guest Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 If you de-certed the hard way then you will be fine until you do a _hard reset, or until the SPV does one of its 'random' resets (it does this after finding a corrupt Registry). AFAIK the OTA de-cert will survive a _hard reset (although I stand to be corrected!). Apart from that it will stay de-certed.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003  matt I have never heard of the OTA surviving a hard reset but then again I have not heard of anyone trying but I would be surprised if it did survive :?
Guest Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 That's what I thought, but I vaguely remember reading a post from someone that claimed that it did. I've never tried it myself, and if I needed to do a _hard reset and found out that the handset was locked I would just _OTA again. I'll see if I can find that post....
Guest Will Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 today something happened which should clarify things. My phone went to critical battery, and did it's 'pseudo' reset. IE i lost all personalisation, BUT maintained the decerted status. Will Doing a full hardreset then relocked the phone so I had the fun of OTA decerting again.
Guest Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 Must have mis-read something about the partial reset then! So, _OTA unlock survives the partial reset (which resets the Registry) but not the full _hard reset (which nukes it all). Makes perfect sense when I take a moment to think about it (note to self - think before posting  ). Thanks for clearing that up Will!
Guest Will Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 but we're onto a new project tonight, packetsniffing the ota requests  If i get anywhere i'll report back! Will
