It will stay this way unless you do a hard reset or the phone decides to do one of it's infamous

partial resets.

As for checking try running an uncerted app, there are plenty at mono's site www.monolithix.org

which is the largest collection of uncerted apps on the web.

If you de-certed the hard way then you will be fine until you do a _hard reset, or until the SPV does one of its 'random' resets (it does this after finding a corrupt Registry).

AFAIK the OTA de-cert will survive a _hard reset (although I stand to be corrected!).

Apart from that it will stay de-certed.

matt I have never heard of the OTA surviving a hard reset but then again I have not heard of anyone

trying but I would be surprised if it did survive :?

That's what I thought, but I vaguely remember reading a post from someone that claimed that it did.

I've never tried it myself, and if I needed to do a _hard reset and found out that the handset was locked I would just _OTA again.

I'll see if I can find that post....

today something happened which should clarify things.

My phone went to critical battery, and did it's 'pseudo' reset.

IE i lost all personalisation, BUT maintained the decerted status.

Doing a full hardreset then relocked the phone so I had the fun of OTA decerting again.

Must have mis-read something about the partial reset then!

So, _OTA unlock survives the partial reset (which resets the Registry) but not the full _hard reset (which nukes it all).

Makes perfect sense when I take a moment to think about it (note to self - think before posting  ).

Thanks for clearing that up Will!
