Guest spvnewbie Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 Ok after having the phone for all of 1 week let me say am well impressed. 1st question tho - How can i get rid of the Orange Add on splash screen on start up. 2nd question - How i can turn of the flashing light at the top left. And 3rdly and finally the Dockware screen drops when charging is there any way of getting these to show when not charging. Cheers for any help in advance.
Guest XGEOX Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 well, i can help you with he first one - just use activesync to explore the sd card (explore>mysmartphone>storagecard) you should see a folder named 2577. backup this folder to your pc, then remove the folder from your sd card. this will stop the screen from showing and remove the demos you got on the sd card when you bought the phone. If you want to keep the software on the card, but want stop the update screen from showing, just remove the file 'autorun.exe' from the folder '2577'.
Guest JoelRae Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Firstly, welcome to the site, I've not been here long (not had my spv long either!) and have already learnt loads just from reading previous posts ... As for the flashing light, I read somewhere (on the orange site I think) that you can't stop the light from flashing, as when the screen switches off (after about a minute of inactivity) this is the only way to tell if the phone is on (apart from just pressing a button  ) Not used Dockware, sorry, I'm sure someone will know though! Take it easy, Joel
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 3rdly and finally the Dockware screen drops when charging is there any way of getting these to show when not charging. Welcome to the site  I presume you are using the demo that came with the phone? This is a very limited demo, for more features you need to upgrade to Dockware Pro
Guest spvnewbie Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Thanks XGEOX - that fix worked a treat. Thanks JoelRae - Hmm tend to agree read the same thing on the site. Thanks awarner - Yeh checked the upgrade out and may consider that. Once again all thanks for all the welcomes and all the help. Just getting to grips with the new phone. Only other thing is alarming me now is with the masses of ringtones etc how quickly the card/memory is filling up. Also any one know if there is a shortcut key to hold down to put the phone into slent. Thanks Again
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Also any one know if there is a shortcut key to hold down to put the phone into slent. Do you mean silent profile? If you press the power button quickly (do not hold down) you will be presented with aQuick List menu, from there you can choose the Silent profile.
Guest James Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 also look at the set tones app from www.monolithix.org this will let you store ringues on the storage card
Guest spvnewbie Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Thanks again people. All sorted now quick shutdown works a treat and now have some free space by saving the sounds etc. Gonna be cheeky now and ask another favour, - I was lucky enough to get my phone upgrade free from Orange on Everyday 50. Now i know the everyday 50 is no longer available but what is the cheapest deal for the phone available for a presently non Orange customer. Looking for a tariff with a monthly line rental that is reasonably and the handset at a reasonable price. Orange has them for £30 to buy then £30 per month after that but im looking for friend who wants to drop his line rental from £30 for his current phone which is not with Orange. Cheers Again
