Guest Stella Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Just found this subject line using the check for orange updates, does anybody have it? do I need to download ? thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 To use the add on keyboard you need to download the keyboard drivers from Orange, I cannot find the link at the moment but hopefully someone else will be able to.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 You can get them through Orange Update...
Guest tokyem Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 i haven't been able to find the keyboard on the orange update screen. Can someone send me the .cab file?
Guest James Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 cant find it on my phone mate, i have downloaded it again and its on my phone somewhere???? anyone got a clue where Orange Update stores its files? tried to do a search already.
Guest tokyem Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 If you use the Explore option in Microsoft Activesync, you can see that the the Orange Update appears to put a *.cab file in MySmartphone/IPSM/MyDocs. Would you please download the keyboard update again and see if you can send me the *.cab file? I think the issue is that i bought my phone in Denmark and the Orange Update must point ot Denmark (where they don't sell or support the keyboard). Thanks for you help.
Guest Gorskar Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 here are the files I had when I applied the update: Im not sure if they will work properly without the update or not, but you're welcome to try: Note that OEM135_06_ORG_UK.cab should be renamed to OEM135_06_ORG_UK.xdp Also XDPRunner.cab should be renamed to XDPRunner.exe These were the files that Orange update put on my phone. Do with them as you will. I had to rename the extensions of two of these files to be able to post them, but you should rename them back before doing anything with them.OEM135_06_ORG_UK.cabXDPRunner.cabkeyboard.CAB
Guest James Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 mine is bit different! this is just the keyboardUK_XDPDeliver.zip
Guest Gorskar Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 That was probably the files before they were unzipped. I found these in my IPSMwindowsappmgrinstall folder using activesinc.
Guest James Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 That was probably the files before they were unzipped. I found these in my IPSMwindowsappmgrinstall folder using activesinc. can you delete the stuff in IPSMwindowsappmgr ?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Nope. Those folders control your "Remove programs" list, amongst other things. I ~think~ you're ok to nuke the IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall dir though...
Guest tokyem Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Thanks for the quick responses!!! Are the files you all posted the original files or were they files remaining after going through the 'view downloads', 'select', and 'open' commands within the Orange Update?
Guest James Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 the one i posted is the original exe file that is downloaded from the orange update app. it was in /IPSM/MyDocs so if you put it in there and run the Orange update does it find it?
Guest tokyem Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Sorry if this is a repeat... Got the keyboard working. The file UK_XDPDeliver.exe is the one you need. Process: attach phone to PC with activesynch copy UK_XDPDeliver.exe to IPSMMy Documents create shortcut to UK_XDPDeliver.exe move shortcut to IPSMMy DocumentsUK_XDPDeliver.exe re-boot phone chose UK_XDPDeliver.exe on program menu (from home screen on phone) follow installation instructions... Thanks for all of the help. yem
Guest TigerNet Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Hi All I have installed the keyboard.cab file from this thread. My i-mate smartphone 2 recognises the keyboard and callibrates, but little else seems to work...for example if I am writing a text, the short cut to inbox doesn't work and even when opened, I cannot type anything... Help much appreciated... Cheers Nick
Guest nvkid909 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 just a "by-the-way" keyboard uk is on the 8mb add-on card that came with the orange package, with other trial demos on it. don't know how much/if it's free

PPCW were able get their I-mate 2 working with the Eleksen keyboard. I don't know if this keyboard driver is any different. see http://www.ppcw.net/index.php?itemid=1608 I would be interested to know if it works OK
Guest TigerNet Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Thanks for the idea...unfortunately, doesn't work ](*,)
