- Blistering performance! All the sound and graphics code for this game, as well as the game engine itself, were created from scratch and optimized for each device type.

- Find players and compete head-2-head over the Internet with the new built-in Internet Multiplayer Match-Maker. Multiplayer features a "low bandwidth" mode for Smartphone and Pocket PC users playing over cellular networks. Or save on bandwidth costs, cradle your device, and play through your desktop computer's connection. Wired/wireless/home networks also supported.

- Game includes a 45 level single-player campaign. All levels are also designed for multiplayer deathmatch.

- Game engine includes object physics, transparencies, particle effects, and a full scrolling background. The entire game is designed around fixed-point arithmetic for lightning speed, realistic physics, and smooth animation.

- Smart AI opponents of varying difficulties and devastating weapons, all upgradeable.

- Unlimited Replayability. In addition to all the levels that come with the game, players can create or download additional single level or multilevel "campaign style" add-ons for use with RocketElite.

- Persistent ship upgrades. Once you obtain an upgrade it will stay with you until you complete the campaign.

- Each level has unique graphics and environmental effects to deal with and adapt to.

- Multiplayer interface engine optimized for a high-speed, lag-free gaming experience.

- Multiple & configurable control options.

Drop by the RocketElite web page: http://www.RocketElite.com/ and preview add-on levels, talk to players, view the online high score table, etc.

--------

I just wanted to thank everyone for supporting our Smartphone products which made this very ambitious Smartphone title possible. The amount of depth and playtime to this title are limitless. Especially with the addition of the built-in multiplayer match-maker which will allow you to easily find and play opponents.

The full version is now available at: http://www.RocketElite.com/

This release is properly logo tested and digitally signed to work on all Windows Powered Smartphones.

RocketElite Gold is being simultaneously released for Pocket PC devices. When playing over the Internet, Smartphone players can play against other Smartphone players as well as Pocket PC players. This should help build the online community. The online RocketElite community will also be joined with the Desktop PC players from sites like RealArcade.com and games.yahoo.com when the game becomes available there.

This game is the product of many months of work to make it a permanent addition to your phone. I hope you all enjoy this one.

Running and maintaining an online game is simply more costly. I'll try to get specials out there whenever possible.

i wouldnt say its too expensive to be honest, as games get more complex they take more time to develop, the more time taken to develop the more costly the game is to make, and that has to be pushed onto the buyers unfortunately.

Personally i'd rather pay 15 quid for a game that looks good, sounds good, plays good than pay 10 quid for a game that lasts me half a day and i get bored.

and of course, thats the whole point of demos..... try before you buy

Excellent stuff Doug

Is this going to be sold through Handango so I can use my MoDaCo Plus discount or perhaps you can do a deal yourself for 'Plus' members? :D

Congratulations Douglas, definitely one i'm going to buy!

As mentioned above, it'd be great to see your app on SmartPhone.net or Handango so Plus members could use their 10% discount (without costing you anything), or maybe a Plus discount of your own?

Hey looks like a really cool game. At the mo my fave game is Snails (not interested in any Golf games like links) but this looks like it could top the list!

Just one Q, how much bandwidth does the game require for OTA multiplayer... just thinking of GPRS costs that are about to hit us... and whether we can get away with using dial-up connection instead.

I have only been installing the free games so far, but this little chap I would be more than happy to pay for, I'm a big fan of online games, this one looks worthy of adding to that collection.

Anyone else find it easier using the "Hard" control method !

Excellent game! Took me a while to realise where the Lost astronaughts where, (thought that landing on those platforms with flags was rescuing them!) But got the hang of it now.. No offense tho... but I'd like to buy it from Handango or Smartphone.net or something... Any idea when it'll be available on those sites?

Woo Hoo!!! 9748 on level 1!!! (shame it's only the demo)... will my score still be there when i buy the full game?

Hmm tried the demo.. When i first tried launch it i got this error: "Please have 5 megs of free RAM before playing this game." I pressed OK and it launched the game.

"Hmm" i thought "Maybe it didn't mather!" so i tried to press "new game".. Then the game exited and my phone froze :x

Well.. I pulled out the batery, and started to delete things filling up in ipsm, even though i didn't had much to delete.. well i got around 5 megs free space, and relaunched the game..

This time it started with no error, so i thought that it would run fine, but when i tried to press new game it exited and froze again :D :x

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Consider this a bug report!

well.. btw.. i think the game looks great, cant tell if it actually is great, cus i can't try it.. byt anyways..

i think i must just try again

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. The game is posted to Handango and should appear just as soon as their content refreshes. I dropped the price 10% to $16.99 USD. I'll try to get it up on Smartphone.net also today.

The full version of RocketElite Gold will shutdown other applications (like the phone is designed to do) if it needs more memory. If it can't get enough memory it'll warn you. To get more memory, you don't need to delete files or apps off your device, you'll just need to kill any resident processes. Use a program like the Smartphone Task Manager (www.binarys.com)

Regarding bandwidth usage. The game has two bandwidth modes: Standard (3MB/hour) and low-bandwidth (1MB/hour). The game also ships with a desktop "activesync pass-through" application which will allow you to play through your desktop computer's connection. Since this multiplayer game is basically like any other deathmatch style game, ping is very important. The GPRS connection probably isn't going to provide as good of a ping time as piggy backing on your desktop pc's connection, but depending on your location and connection it should be playable.

Please let me know if I missed any of your questions. Enjoy,

Douglas Beck

I had to delete programs, i had noffin running, and seccond time i tried was after a reboot, so that would mean that i possitivily didn't have anything running.. when i looking up my phys. mem. i had 5.5 megs free, so it couldn't have bin the problem either?

I seem to have a problem with the actual game (Full Version)... just bought it off Smartphone.net.

Firstly my phone crashed when i tried to un-install the Demo, and now i cant un-install it (after a battery-out etc.)

So i just installed the full game and it created a separate directory, now when I run the program an Error message comes up... with a few wierd symbols... "Application out of memory... etc etc" the the phone freezes.

Battery-out again, just spent good part of 15mins trying to get free IPSM memory up to over 5MB, System memory has 5.5MB free, Storage card has 12MB free, but exactly the same problem happened again.

Would like some help please...

Thanks...

Glyn

default installation of the demo set the game so there was no quit option on the main menu

only way to get out was to pull the battery!!

editted the config file to change this now, but people might want to be aware of this

er, just press home to quit dont you? (it just sits nicely sleeping in the background)

ah, didn't find that - expected the back button to do that - thought I'd tried home though

mooching around in the game directory, I discovered that there is a text file you can edit to add a 'Quit Game' option to the bottom of the menu though  (it's set to no by default so isn't drawn)

yeh, its a way of getting around the microsoft logo signing requirement of 'no app or game is allowed to have an exit button'

Exactly the same problem for me. I emailed support yesterday but no reply yet.

ARRGGHHH!!! i sent smartphone.net an email aswell as Digital Concepts, both had a detailed account of exactly what i had done, also demonstrating that I'm not a bimbo who's never heard of a product activation code... and this is the reply I get from them:

Hello,

The key given to you is your Customer ID.  You can register online

from within the game or from the RocketElite web page @

www.RocketElite.com

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions,

Thank you for supporting Smartphone.NET!

Hi, gynton. You're not a bimbo  I apologize there was a registration problem with Smartphone.net customers. I just sent out new registrations to everyone that purchased from Smartphone.net & resolved the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Midnight: Something I added regarding no "quit" item on the menu (which is a requirement for Smartphone Logo Certification), is a "config.txt" file in the install directory. You'll get a Quit item on the main menu if you edit it, change the line to: [quitmenuitem|yes]
