Guest craigblade Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 I recently purchased the SPV and was a little unsure on the various ways of connecting to wap. I have the 3month access pack for free and just want to make sure i'm not being charged for connecting or anything else. Under settings/data connections, I have: internet connection: orange GPRS work connection:none WAP connection: orange wap secure wap: none Does this sound right? Also, when I'm on the proper internet I am charged for the amount of data I download - is there any way of finding out how much data there is on a certain page before I download anything, or maybe after i've finished surfing can i find out how much data i have downloaded? cheers craig
Guest Richie M Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Hi, welcome to Customisation :? expect your topic to be moved shortly tho, please try to post in the relevent Forum :D Your settings look ok to me  The only way to keep track of your download ammount is by a GPRS Data Counter but these do seem to be unreliable :D but if your on the 3 months free (lucky you) why worry
Guest James Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 in ie there is also an option to choose which connection to use:- WAP Network or The Internet
Guest rkrishnamurthy Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 Open IE, Go to Options, Select Connections, Uncheck Automatic Selection. Below you can select which connection you want to use, ie WAP or GPRS.
Guest martin Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 When you've loaded a page you can goto Menu Poperties which will show the page size in Kbytes. The problem is that all pages are different sizes A GPRS counter is still going to be the best way of tracking your usage.
Guest vijay555 Posted August 5, 2003 Report Posted August 5, 2003 to be really safe, disable the internet gprs by changing the access point from orangeinternet to .orangeinternet or something. It's not really necessary, but i've got free open access and am heavily into wap now - can do my yahoo and icq for free from Smartphone :) read techdirt, even modaco from Google WAP! but yeah, you don't need to change the internet gprs settings; just change the network settings to not automatic in ie and choose wap network.
