Guest patwap Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Hi, Anyone knows what is the setting for Starhub operator in Singapore ? I got a MS Smartphone from overseas and need to set it up. thanks
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 You're the first Singapore user i've heard of, welcome to the site. Have you tried the starhub website?
Guest patwap Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I have settings for MS Pocket PC from their website so I have the DNS servers but I do not know the access point name. The normal set up uses dialup type with number *99***1# and the MS Smartphone does not seem to use this type of set up. In the articles, GPRS conf on this forum, there is settings for M1 operator in Singapore posted but not Starthub operator.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 You'd probably be best off getting as many settings as possible from Starhub and posting them here. Either that or wait and see if another Starhub SPV user turns up...

Guest patwap Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 The GPRS settings work. I have not had a chance to test the MMS yet. Thank you very much for the info. Great stuff.
Guest Singapore21 Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 ANyone has SIngtel settings? :) Many thanks!
Guest martin Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Hi Singapore21 and welcome to the site. It looks like you need an IDEAS password to allow Singtel data access. Simply visit ”http://www.ideas.singtel.com/RedirectFile....p?type=aboutwap to obtain a password and activate your account at the “members area” Hopefully the standard SPV setup should then work with Singtel data :) Good Luck :o SingTel Singapore Create proxy connection Description: Singtel WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP network Proxy (name:port): 165.021.042.084 Type: WAP Username: blank Password: blank Create GPRS connection. Guest Singapore21 Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Wow.. thanks! Managed to connect to WAP pages.. but couldn't connect to the Singnet home page (??).. Any ideas what could be the prob? Also, when i go to sites to download mid files, i get the error msg 'Content type received in gateway was not requested by the client'... ??
Guest Singapore21 Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Hi! I got it to work... many thanks! The only thing that's not working is the downloading of music files.. :)
Guest martin Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 What you now need to do is check both GRPS connections. Testing the WAP connection wsp://www.google.com/wml wsp://gee-select.starhubgee.com.sg/wap (+any other WAP sites) Testing the Internet connection http://www.google.com/wml http://gee-select.starhubgee.com.sg/wap (+any other WAP site) http://www.modaco.com/mobile http://www.msmobiles.com (+any other web site) Here in the UK, I have accessed www.ideas.singtel.com but i get the pocketpc version, probably because the site is detecting the SPV's HTML browser. It's got streaming videos for the pocketc :) but they won't play on my SPV :o Hmmm To get the WAP (WML) version of the singtel homepage then you probably need to bypass www.ideas.singtel.com and go straight to the WAP address instead. You can maybe find this address by using a WAP only phone and then checking the page properties when you are diverted. Alternatively WebWapSelect for the SPV might do the job. Hope this helps
Guest martin Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Hi! I got it to work... many thanks! The only thing that's not working is the downloading of music files Oops I didn't realise you had already posted (I got distracted at work  ) Its great you got it going. Can you access all sites ? You should be able to stream data if you have full internet access. Try and access http://www.totalrock.com/streams/TRLive.asx If it doesn't work then check with your sercive provider that you also have Internet (web browsing) and MMS services activated.

Thanks a lot, Martin.. the guys in the forum here are really helpful! Yes, can access all sites, only that i can access midi files like how i could do with my nokia and samsung phones whilst browsing wap sites offering free ringtones. Wonder if i need to 'upgrade' my internet browser (SPVx) to be able to read the music files? And thanks for the links.. CHeers! btw - u a singaporean working in UK?
Guest martin Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Yes, can access all sites, only that i can access midi files like how i could do with my nokia and samsung phones whilst browsing wap sites offering free ringtones. Wonder if i need to 'upgrade' my internet browser (SPVx) to be able to read the music files? No I don't think you can access or convert the nokia midi files to play on the SPV. The SPV can't handle polyphonic ringtones. What the SPV CAN do is play WAV files as ringintone and this much more fun. Take a look at the customisation sections and be prepared to impress you freinds next time your SPV rings  btw - u a singaporean working in UK? No, just an average UK guy, but I am working (when I'm not on MoDaCo)
