Jordan's going to be there. And the "twins", as Homer would say. (we have posters all over tube in london). Jordan put me off going.

What do you fit into your fun-packed, rocket-paced, caffeine-fuelled 25-hour day?

At Mobile Life you will have the chance to experience how mobile communications can help you get more from your life, whilst on the move. Held in Earls Court 2, on 13-15 June 2003 you can spend all day visiting our Mobile Life Time Zones; Breakfast, Morning, Lunchtime, Afternoon. Drive-time, Evening, Late Night, Through-the-night, and The Carphone Warehouse will be at the centre of Mobile Life showing you how to find that extra 25th Hour in your day.

There was a full page spread in today's Metro (free London newspaper) about it. There is going to be a whole area devoted to the SPV - "Smartworld".

Don't think I'm going to go, but some of the new phones look cool.

Siemens launch the SX1 at Mobile Life

Siemens will be showing the new SX1 phone in the UK for the first time, made for those who 'work hard, play harder'. With built in video play, camcorder, music player and FM radio this fab phone boasts features aplenty and can sync with your PC like a PDA to capture all your email contacts.

So did anyone else actually go along to this? I wandered along on sunday afternoon, but thought the whole thing was a bit of a waste of time.

At the end of the day you paid £10/12 to get in and all there was inside was the same level of information as you could get wandering along the average high street and going into all the mobile phone shops. Sure there were the usual free drinks and stuff, but I didn't feel I really got £12 worth of fun.

The people showing stuff didn't seem to have a lot of extra knowledge of their products and the "new technology" on display seemed to me to mainly be a straight display with the only real gear to play with being stuff that was already available.

The microsoft room was nothing too exciting, first room was a line of spvs hooked onto the fabric keyboards to display internet explorer, then you had a beach room where you could play at taking a photo, then a games room with Inter Stellar flames, Motocross and a few others, a movies room (watch trailers on spvs...) and finally a business room with some laptops...

I did like the look of the siemens sl55, not a smartphone, but it's still a pretty darn sexy piece of kit... fit really nicely in your pocket for a night out...

I'm probably being overly critical cos I already know a lot about the mobile stuff than the average consumer... most people there may have been impressed...

I also felt that the branding in the mobile market is just too confusing, Nokia and Sony/Ericcson spend half their time prettending Symbian is something they invented, Orange/Vodafone spend all their time pretending hardware and software is something they invented, and carphone warehouse was pretending that everything was about them and that the different networks were just a carphone warehouse pricing system.

Crazy... anyway, I should do some work rather than ranting on here
