Import contacts from Excel?

Hello!

I dont want to sync my contacts in the Outlook with my SPV, because I have a lot more emails than I actually want on my SPV.

I have recently bought the SPV, and I have all my contacts with name and tlf. nr. saved in a Excel file. Do I have to feed all the numbers manually or can I import the numbers to my SPV?

Thnx in advance!

You don't have to sync everything, you can choose just to do your contacts and leave everything else well alone!

If you just choose your contacts then the easiest way would be to import them from Excel to Outlook then sync them across.

I hope I've understood what you've meant

Yes, that's right. But the problem is that I don't want to sync all my contacts from outlook in the SPV.

I only want some of them + only the telephone nr. NOT all the emails.

You can choose to sync different aspects of Outlook contacts, but I think only by category, i.e copy all contacts 'cept work ones... But then you'd get the full contact details synced across. (Don't know why that would be a problem)

If you don't want all the details, just the phone numbers, then probably easiest way would be to edit the excel spreadsheet to remove all the extra data (and probably the unwanted contacts too).

Hope that helps.

Ok I get it now!

This can be done, before you sync your phone, open up Activesync, > options > highlight and tick contacts > settings > chooose sync only the following contacts and select the ones you want.

You'll still have to import your contacts from excel to outlook though.

Hope this helps.

Or just make a new folder within Contacts in Outlook (PC) and move everything there. In root of Contacts keep the ones you want to sync. So you can have a folder called 'Work' and all work contacts in there that will not sync to SPV (only root folder does). Voila!

I dont know. Active Synch also synchs subfolders.

Thnx ppl. I gor the idea.

Thats true that Active Sync syncs the subfolders too. But I will solve this problem. But when I import the contactlist from Excel, the names and the mobile numbers are saved as separate entries.

Ex.

Name Tel.

AJ 123456

BC 789012

Så that will occure as 4 separate entries in contactlist.

Any clue, how to solve that?

Thnx

Have a nice da/night
