Hey all,

Recently I've had a problem with installing new programs on my spv. It's got all the lastest firmware, and i've tried unlocking, and relocking the phone to see if that'd work but with no joy :D

You bung the phone on Activesync, install a program as normal from your PC, and then it comes up with the usual message, "please check ur device screen for further step etc etc." But when you look at the SPV, it flashes up as if it is about to do the install, but then goes staight back to to home screen!

Any help would be great

Cheers

Steve

You have a failed install problem.

To fix this you need to have a file manager app installed on the phone. I recommend you use Smart Explorer

(if your phone is decerted) then explore and go to IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall in the Install folder you should see the failed app you can then either run it to complete the install or delete it and install again.

You have to use a file manager on the phone as Activsync will not see the folder.

If you don't have a file manager app on the phone we have to be a bit more drastic.

As typical as it is, my IA Explorer has ran out of it's evaluation! JOY!! It's supposed to be the full version, brought it! Can't reinstall it now, this is PANTS

Ok is IA Explorer asking for a code? sorry as I do not know as I have never used that app before.

The more drastic method I was refering to, is for you to delete the Appmgr folder. In doing this it will interfere with the uninstall procedure of any apps you have already installed but how often are you going to uninstall apps?

And a way to fix the above is to reinstall the app again that you want to uninstall. then uninstall as usual.

Right I'll think I'll do that, uninstall everything, then get rid of that folder, and reinstall the apps!! Man this is a typical Microsoft thing....

If you are going to uninstall everything (which personaly I would not do) you may as well do a Hard Reset that way you are taking your phone back to the "out of the box settings".

i have also had this prob.even if i use a file manager to open the install file on the fone it still goes back to the home screen before install is complete.any ideas? apart from a hard reset that is

Yeah instead of trying to run the file from IPSM//Windows//AppMgr/Install - delete it! And then try to reinstall from your PC (or whichever way you tried it before)

That usually does the trick...
