I think I should sell the SPV before the Tanager comes out, but I just can't 'sniff' go back to my old Nokia 8310 after the SPV. I would be like selling a ferrari and using an escort till the new ferrari comes out. :lol:

My contact at Orange CS can confirm its still a current handset, in fact theyve jus received deliveries for new contracts and upgrades.

i also spoke to orange, and there warehouse has lots of exsisting stock however further stock will not be produced. i hope! this means insurance replacements will be tanager or mitacs, hee hee!!!

paul? if u find a supplier for mitac can will we get discounts for being modaco member?

Orange wont replace spv with mitac or tanager unfortunatly, can anyone remember the philips 820? well they still have loads of them left for their insurance replacements

Will Orange still support it then ? - also will there be any more updates - also wot about MS Smartphone 2003 upgrade ?

If Orange discontinues the handset will they be withdrawing support of the hardware ?

Could have something to do with the fact that Gears (coolsmartphone.com) reports that the E100 is now out on Orange, hitting shops at the end of July.

OK, important points:

A) Orange stops selling older handsets all the time. This doesn't mean they stop giving "support" to their existing customers. You get support from Orange if you have an Orange contract regardless of what handset you have.

:lol: Any updates/support etc for the tanager are likely to be relevant to existing SPV users. They are basicallly the same phone internally just with a different shell, screen and keypad.

Gears is quoting the article discussed here earlier, and having spoken the person at Orange in charge of the SPV project, I can confirm that the article is inaccurate. The SPV E-100 is NOT released on Orange!

Yeah sell it and go back to the Nokia. I'll give you a couple of quid for an old, out of date, mangy SPV and then you can go and buy the super duper Tanager when it comes out. :roll:

Sorry for the sarcasm, I couldn't resist. I just don't see the logic behind wanting to sell the SPV just because Orange are discontinuing it ?!?! Especially selling it before a replacement comes out so that you lose out on all that functionality you become used to. And all this to then buy essentially the same phone ?!?!

I've only just got my SPv and it's already on it's way out!, Well thats bl**dy good. :cry: I like my SPV and it seems that if people with more than one brain cell (I.E. Not me) can make progs the SPV will stay a ggod phone for a long time to come. :wink:
