Planus GPRS in Australia?

Hey, I'm off to OZ for a while, at least 7/8 months and want to take the SPV with me. Can anyone offer suggestions on the SIM only option, obviously with GPRS availability? I'm off to look at the Aussie networks just now....

It seems like most Aussie contracts are for 24 months, so that's not an option for me. If there are any other routes I should be thinking of, I'd like to hear please :?:

Or....I sell the SPV help pay for flight..

last time i was there you could get payg and if you werent getting a handset there was no contract on line rental. networks in oz have much better reception especially in buildings. telstra is by far the best and is way cheaper than here in the uk. only thing is i havent been back for 2 years.

SPV works fine on Telstra, except can't receive mms.

No GPRS on PAYG contracts.

You can take a range on contracts by the month, so maximum commitment is 30 days.

AFAIK, in Australia you can only go on a GPRS data plan if you have an existing voice call plan with that carrier.

Sure. The point is though, that you only have to make a commitment for 30 days. And it only needs to be for $10. That's all it costs to get GPRS data available. Then data costs between 1 and 2 cents per kB depending how much you want to use.
