Have you tried Picodrive? You can play SONIC with it.

I have tried about 100 games on it so far. Just about all of them worked without sound. Some worked with sound but the sound wasn't perfect. It's getting there. Hopefully there will be another update at some point for Picodrive...

v0.047 of masterall now gots z80 emulated: all games got sound (less than 5% don't)
