Guest jscotl Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I'm new to SPV & appreciate that the supplied Storage Card is only 8MB, but I do not seem to be able to copy a single music track to the card either by Exploring (drag/drop) or via Win MediaPlayer9. :oops: Q1. MP9 always stated no space in the Storage Card, Smartphone or IPSM. Why is do I not see any available space on the card when there is only 3MB of data on it? (I copied that data onto my Desktop) Q2. Is it possible to format the Storage Card? (FYI: The lock option is off). Everytime the card is inserted, there is an "auto-run" program ofering to install some programs from Orange. Q3. Presumably, I should purchase a larger (128MB) SD card? Q4. Via "About", the fone shows Avail Storage: 5.74MB TTL Storage: 7.5MB Avail memory 6.59MB TTL Mem: 12.53MB. Is any of this info specific to the Storage Card (SD Card). I appear to get same reading whether card is in or out ? Thanks in advance for any advice, James S
Guest jim80b Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 if you copy the contents on the card onto the pc you can delete it from the card and gain a total of 6.something meg. dont use winplayer9 as it dosnt work loads, drag and drop is better, a card writer best. download taskmanager , this allows you to format the card and tells you how much space is avaible as well as way to end programs (free memory up) buy a bigger card. very good advice. the avil storage is how much free space on the phone, of a total (TTL) of 7.5 the next is the free memory (ram) hope u like the spv
Guest FrankyG Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Welcome fellow Scot! (well, Edinburgh anyway :wink: ) 1) Lots of problems reported with WM9 and SPV, some get it to work, others don't. There is a lot of info on this forum if you search for it. maybe someone else will have a quick solution for you... I would suggest getting a card reader, makes transferring stuff SO much quicker. You'll appreciate this when you get a bigger card. 2) & 4) yes, it can be formatted. Memory management (and the formatting) is best carried out by installing SP task manager, but you need an unlocked phone for this. You DO plan to do this right? Best thing you can do to be honest, opens up all sorts of possibilities. Go here if you want to unlock; Official Orange Unlock 3) Oh yeah. get the biggest you can afford! I got 256 Mb for about £50, still not big enough for me!(Kylie videos take up soooo much space :wink: ) I would suggest that you take a look at the Software section of the site, It will give you an idea of the possibilities when you have unlocked the phone.
