Guest ashley.flynn Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Hey guys i was just looking into the ins and outs of copyrighting products and software. I have been to a few sites (like this) but they are largely patchy when it comes to software. I am planning to copyright a website and was just wondering if anyone has tried this or knew to what extent it would work. Also, where do you do it and how much $ does it cost. Thx Ashley
Guest Richie M Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Er copyright cost nothing, you just need to prove when you created it. I dont know how this would work with a website - but music wise, you just send yourself/solicitor/bank manager you masters by recorded delivery and leave the envlope unopened. Then if there is a dispute over copyright you have proof of when it was created.
Guest ashley.flynn Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 ah thx. im as ingnorant as i sound but is patenting the same thing? there are sites that (for a fee) will pantent your application for you
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Isn't patenting the expensive one?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Yep and patents only last for x amount of time
Guest Richie M Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Yeah, you only want to patent an invention! Patents can cost thousands and dont go somewhere that'll do it for free! cos the contract will be a nightmare and you'll probably be signing all rights over to the patent agent
