Guest v_patel1 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 i could get a P800 and i gotta SPV should i get it
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Your choice but most members here who have had both phones seem to say the SPV is the better of the two so there would not be much point getting a P800. At the end of the day only you can decide
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 It apparently the input method sucks, that's one of the main gripes. Only a suggestion by try a search for P800 and see what it throws up? Might take you a bit of trawling but you may find the info you want.
Guest Deemon Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 ive had the opportunity to use a p800 cos a mate at work has one... I was waiting for the p800 to come out but when i saw the price i decided to go for the SPV instead...Im really glad i did now....the p800 imho feels cheap, is BIG and does not have enough going for it to make me pay the £350 that orange wanted for the upgrade.... just my opinion of course....but the SPV is a damn good phone
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 No t9....(at least the SPV has the basic dictionary, even if it cant remember t9 words).
Guest v_patel1 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 what about program wise? are they better? and is there more
Guest Deemon Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 It uses a different OS to the smartphone...Symbian OS its called..not sure what version...It also will run Java applets...(so will the SPV soon) it all depends what you are after app wise... personally the functionality of the spv was not for me...it has this jog dial thing instead of a joystick...i couldnt get on with it.... best thing is to go down the shop and play with both of them....see what you think
Guest muha86 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 It uses a different OS to the smartphone...Symbian OS its called..not sure what version...It also will run Java applets...(so will the SPV soon) is the spv really goin to get java or are u just playin
Guest Scarfman007 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 It also will run Java applets...(so will the SPV soon) Yes, where did you hear about this? I know there's a port of waba in progress (?), and there was going to be a JavaVM with the Sendo Z100, but apart from that nothing...
Guest Deemon Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 theres been a few places where ive seen stuff about it.......heres the links The original link i heard about...yes i know its a bit old... http://www.infosync.no/news/2002/n/2231.html A link about the Mita Mio having J2ME support http://www.infosync.no/news/2002/n/3197.html and another lot more recent.. http://www.idg.net/ic_1321210_9677_1-5045.html
Guest mashkhan Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 To be honest with you, I don't think your going to get a completely unbiased opinion in a forum dedicated to the SPV. Having played around with a P800, I do think it is a good phone. I am very jealous of the fact that it has Emame. However I do think the SPV is better VFM. It's up to you really, but if I were you I would get a SPV cheaply on upgrade/new contract and save my money for the next generation of smartphones with xscale processors.
