Guest benzo Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I'm desperately trying to register for some credits and it looks like the site has been down for ages. I have emailed Asif, but have not received a response yet. As an alternative, does anyone know of any decent free sms websites.. need to SMS an operator in France (SFR). Thanks. Benzo
Guest ajb3000 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 A couple of things, Firstly despite many requests from myself and others, Asif has still not got round to putting the website back online, and he has now gone away for the rest of the week. Secondly Planus doesn't support France anyway, the French networks charge a rediculously high termination fee, which means Planus has to block them in order to keep their prices down (the mobile networks use the worst case scenrio, i.e. highest termination fees, when working out SMS prices, Planus blocks these networks in order to undercut the networks prices)
Guest benzo Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Thanks for the info. I look forward to the planus site coming back online.
Guest The_Brickster Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I have started to use VGSMail - they seem to be a more reliable and cheaper alternative to Planus. Their website is www.vgsmail.com - it costs 3.3p to send a text. Admittedly they don't support the SPV as well as Planus do, you can still use the e-mail to SMS interface they provide.

I have just registered with them. The Website is easily useable on the SPV and I have just emailed Geoff, the admin guy, about changing the character count to work with the SPV. What I like about vgsmail is that you can get it to email you a confirmation when a sms is delivered (or get it to SMS you back - but that costs you double) I havent yet tried the email-sms facility, but that sounds pretty good too. My brother is in Greece, so sending him SMS at 3.3p a go is much better than paying for international texting from Orange.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 International texting is charged at the standard rate on O is it not? P
Guest FragMeister Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 he is out there for ages so has had his phone unlocked and got a greek sim. therefore it would be international rates as its to a +30#
Guest fozzie Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 "]International texting is charged at the standard rate on O is it not? P Not any more (or from tomorrow to be precise). International SMS now 15p per message!
Guest Gorskar Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 Also what happened to the Planus Support board here at Modaco?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 It's been integrated back into the Main forum.
