About a month ago i phoned orange to set up the GPRS service, and have to say i think it is the bigest load of crap ever made available to the SPV.

I am unable to acces 99% of the webpages i normaly use, and also unable to access my email through the gprs conection.

The most annoying thing is, when i set the data conections / internet conection to auto, the spv chooses gprs which is pointles because i cant do anthing with it,

Normaly i would use dial-up but then i have to mess about switching over to pass through if i want to download somthing to my phone using my broadband conection, if in auto and the gprs worked properly i would be happy, but it doesnt.

I have spoken to orange about the gprs conectivity, and they say that they can only offer suport as far as the ornage website, and not any other areas of the internet.

Any sugestions?

first have you tried setting you email service up on your phone?

are your problems accessing web pages because they have frames?

do you want to assess the internet through the cradle on your computer?

Yes the email service is set up to access my blueyonder broad band email account, using the backup dial-up portal (details provided by blueyonder)

Blueyonder also say that i can use gprs for my internet conection provided i have the corect pop3, smtp, usename and password.

No, i can access all the sites i want using the blueyonder dial-up but gprs only lets me veiw orange's pages

Yes i do wany to acces the internet using the cradle.

Idealy i want to get gprs to work fully, but i cant seem to do this.

what i want is for the phone to choose pass through if available, if not to chose dial up instead of gprs (at the moment if theres no pass through it goes for gprs)

Go to settingsData Connection then on internet connection choose automatic, or if you just want passthrough only select that.

What do you mean by orange pages. Are you talking about the Orange Multimedia WAP pages via the orangewap APN ?

It sound like you don't have orangeinternet setup correctly.

Try these settings to see if you connect to HTML pages via GPRS.

Create a new GPRS connection.

Description: Orange GPRS

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: orangeinternet (or payginternet for PAYG)

User name: (blank)

Password: (blank)

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP address: (blank)

In data connections make 'Internet connection: Orange GPRS'.

In IE connections untick 'Auto detect' and make Select Network=The Internet.

If it works then tick the 'auto detect settings' in IE, then see how the automatic setting for Internet data connection works with it all.

Check Orange MMS in the GPRS connections and make sure it connects to 'Orange MMS'.

Yep, it is.

access point is orangemms

username and pasword are both blank,

DNS are both 0.0.0.0

and ip is blank

in mms setup i have the following

Orange mms

IP 192.168.224.10

port 9201

mmsc address http://orange.co.uk

mesage expiry is max

mms download = auto

*Edit*

Just noticed that when the phone scrolls "downloading mesage" across the screen the phone doesnt apear to establish a gprs conection (no "G" in the top right)

It allways used to do this.

You probably just wrote this down wrong but the mmsc address should be http://mms.orange.co.uk.

I take that you have used MMS successfully before and that it doesn't need activating by Orange.

Hows your phone memory ?

Have you checked the folders recently (especially draft) and made sure there is not an excessive archive of messages.
