Hey im in the us, Minnesota, and im just about to buy an spv on ebay.

However im wondering if this is the best and cheapest way to get one? Also how did u get ahold of your spv phone? or if any body else knows how to get a hold of one for a good price i would like to know. and finally is $400 a reasonable price to pay for one of these phones new off of ebay. any help or comments would be helpful thank you.

I got mine from England. Ummm... $400 sounds like an alright price, but for that you might as well just get an SPVx/Tanager. I've seen them on E-bay for around $480 and they're the new version of the SPV. It is kinda a headache to get it shipped from another country. If it's possible to buy one locally (in the US) then it's probably better to do so. Sometimes you get a guy that will send it and say it's a present to avoid import fees and sometimes they don't and expect you to pay for it. It just kinda depends on the person. Hope this helps!

i just bought my spvx from aguy in the philipine islands. no problems with shipping. i paid via a wire transfer. he had a great comments on his feedback section. bottom line, i got my phone and love it. it took some time to set it all up for gprs and all. but you should really consider the spvx over the spv for the bigger keys ans better soacinf between them. otherwise, i think they operate identically.

Hey you guys are great thanks for the quick replys to my questions. But now i gotta ask more questions... i just looked up the spvx on ebay and there are only 2 of them right now priced at about $600 bucks. that seems like quite a jump is it worth the extra $200 for the newer version??? plus what has changed from the old version to the new. I appriciate any more comments you have on this question as well as the first one i asked. thanks

I would tend to agree with supersha. I would say that the spvx is the better buy. Give it a couple weeks and the SPV will come down quite a bit in price seeing as it's been "rumored" that orange will no longer carry them or sell them anymore. Up to you though. I'll tell you what I'll do though. I'll sell you my SPV so I can upgrade to an SPVx.

There are only 2 differences between the SPV and Tanager (spvx). They are that the Tanager has a new brighter display has larger keys including a nokia type joystick in the center for navigation. The OS, hardware (processor, etc.) and everything else is the EXACT SAME. Some people prefer the SPV to the Tanager because of the look of it. Many believe (and I tend to slightly agree) that the Tanager is cheaper looking and feeling, among some other gripes. With me, the only reason I'd upgrade to the Tanager is for the brighter screen (I like to watch DivX's on my SPV). The choice is really up to you. But like I said in my first post, if you can help it, try and get it stateside. It'll save you a lot of worry in the end.

also...the Tanager has IA Album and IA Camera already pre-installed.

you can buy it here for only about P18,000 (less than $400) with a prepaid sim (but you can discard the sim)..so if you know someone from here, you can make arrangement. Try the General-Pinoy forum also, someone (named jabez) there will be going to the US soon and he's excited to bring his sim-unlocked Tanager to use with T-mobile (?) there...

btw, Im using a Tanager..whats the difference from the joystick of your SPV/Canary? I thought we have the same type with physical difference only?

The SPV has a "nipple" action button and a 1-piece D-Pad, which isn't the easiest control in the world to use. The tanager has a one-piece joystick which you "click" for Action.
