Guest Dylan Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I recently started messing about with my ring tones and SMS alerts and so on and now, when i recieve a text my phone goes mental! Whichever alert I use it cycles repeatedly and the only way to stop it is to power off the phone! I tried changing the alert to just vibrate with no sound but then it just kept buzzing until i powered it off. At the moment the only way I can use it is to turn off any alert for texts but I obviously can't keep it this way. Another thing that happens is that once i turn off the phone (to get rid of the annoying repeating noise!) I lose the text i just recieved! The obvious fix is a hard reset but I'd rather save myself the trouble of reconfiguring my phone if I can help it. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know of a way to resolve it? Any help would be really appreciated!! Thanks!
Guest vijay555 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 What exactly were you "messing about" with? Registry or Settings Panel? try installing one of midnights sound schemes to reset the registry settings? or just find the original registry settings and re-enter them manually? Sounds like you've screwed up your sound profiles. Check IPSM > Application Data > Profiles as well, maybe? Not sure really, elaborate on what caused it to bugger up. V
Guest Dylan Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I didn't want to mention it in the first place as I didn't want to point fingers but I was actually trying to use the SetTones software. I've been in touch with Soyale (who wrote it) but I've got no resolution for it so far and it's really getting to me now. I've tried the profiles, it doesn't matter which profile it's in it still freaks out. It's looking more like a hard reset or even a call to Orange...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Have you tried editing the ringtone script in the registry?
Guest Dylan Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 errr...no. How would i go about that and what registry keys would i edit?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 http://smartphone.modaco.com//viewtopic.php?t=7695 First post, scroll down to "Sound tweaks". You'll need to have removed the application signing lock from your handset and installed PHM Regedit, available from my site
Guest Dylan Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Don't worry, it's already uncert and i've already got regedit installed... I'll be back once i've tried it out.
Guest Dylan Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Ok, forget my last post. I didn't have time to mess about with it and I got totally fed up so I rang Orange. They tested the phone remotely (at least I assume they did) and said it came up as having a fault. Brand new SPV for me in the morning! Thanks for the help though everyone!
