WAP should be free!!

I recently purchased a SPV in the UK with the FREE 3 months access pack, giving you unlimited WAP. However, I heard that when I connect to WAP on my SPV, it goes via the internet (I'm not entirely sure about this???) - therefore, am I going to be charged for using WAP as if I was on the internet??

If that is the case, is there a way of getting around this problem, so I can access WAP completely free?

They call it WAP over GPRS which means you do access WAP vie GPRS but this will not affect your

unlimited WAP as it is part of it.

That was how it was explained to me when I enquired about it, but it did take about six calls to get a straight answer

Hiya,

I also had a similar query and after about five six times talking to Orange 156 I gave up and went into a shop. Basically, waht the shop told me is that if the little G appear mext to the signal bar whilst using WAP you are actually accessing WAP via GPRS and are therefore using any Mb's GPRS package that you've got. Or if haven't got a GPRS package your being charged for what you download. I was told that the way to use free Open Access WAP deal was to go to data connections in settings and make sure that that BOTH the Internet Connection and the WAP connection are set for Orange CSD WAP. Now when you go to Oeange home via the Internet Explorer instead of getting a little G next to the signal bars you should get two little arrows going in opporsit directions. This means that you are using the free WAP deal. Have just checked by changing setting to and from Orange GPRS to Orange CSD WAP and it all make sense. You should get a different Orange homepage if you're using WAP. Although it says free ringtones, games, etc I haven't actually managed to get any yet...all i get is choose your phone(microsoft) then type of phone(spv) click for ringtones/pictures and it's all the way back to beginning(eg choose your phone, etc.) have tried different ways of getting roud this and nothing works. Odd! Orange said it has something to do with the SPV working on a different system than most phones and that we should really stick to GPRS(oh, which they money from us for, al alot). I'm just not really sure. Anyway, hope this has helped.

Paddy
