Guest dannywaddington Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Location: UK Network: Orange The 'G' appears saying that GPRS is enabled but when I open PIE it says: Dialing... then a warning saying, 'The page you were looking for could not be found.' Also with MSN Messenger it says 'The service could not be found' or something similar. I phoned Orange customer support, the customer support guy talked me through the settings and we verified there were right. We got to editing the Orange GPRS connection and I read out the Primary DNS: 158.43.192.1 he said that was wrong and I had to replace '1' with '001' (which is the same, and the SPV even changes the '001' backto '1' anyway. Same for Secondary DNS too. After this he said it would work, I opened up PIE again and it was exactly the same, afterall we did not change any settings. He then said, the settings are right and if it doesn't work I have to keep trying. Still no luck, but I can access the internet via pass through connection. Thanks for any help/advice, Danny
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Welcome to the site  Have a look in the Articles section as there is a GPRS repository , just check your settings there. Also have you tried using GPRS outside of your area? as there have been reports of problem areas.
Guest dannywaddington Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 I did that, edited everything to how it said. Before it said dialing... for while then gave the error message now it says it for just a few seconds and gives the error. Thanks, Danny
Guest martin Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Before it said dialing... for while then gave the error message now it says it for just a few seconds and gives the error. Try turning radio off/on and access an internet page as soon as the centre G appears on you phone. Does it work temporarily or does it fail straight away ? I take it that you are on a contract SIM, the APN is orangeinternet and the 'The Internet connection=Orange GPRS'. If you can't access messenger with these settings then it could be a problem with the cell.
Guest dannywaddington Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 It just says dialing... for a bit then displays, the page you were looking for could not be found.
Guest dannywaddington Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 One, more thing: When connecting the Smaller g appears over the signal indicator.
Guest Will Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 ring orange on your phone, request a callback on a landline, then sit there on the phone until it works, or they blame a transmitter! Did your phone ever dial gprs? have you tried manually changing the connection to gprs not automatic or passthru? Hope you get sorted out. If not, it might be worth while trying a hard reset, if the phone worked before??
Guest dannywaddington Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Phone, never worked. Tried hard reset. Messed with settings alot, changing to GPRS from automatic and pass through.
Guest dannywaddington Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 My god! it's working! Have no idea why! I got a message today saying: Orange welcomes you to your free 3 months open access trial. So I guess it wasn't activated. Also, 3 months open access trial (free). Does that mean, I can download emails, web pages and chat on MSN Messenger for free for 3 months?
