Guest morpheus2702 Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Whey hey, after a month Orange have finally acknowledged that my inability to retain a GPRS connection isn't anything to do with the settings, the area, the time of the month or the colour of beetroot in Bolivia! Apparently all that gets exchanged is the handset minus battery minus memory card? I've left my cradle at work so I'm thinking of popping into an O2 store and grabbing a XDA data cable - will this be OK for synching? Also, is there any better way of backing up, either to my PC or SD card other than dragging and dropping files via the file explorer? Cheers!

Whey hey, after a month Orange have finally acknowledged that my inability to retain a GPRS connection isn't anything to do with the settings, the area, the time of the month or the colour of beetroot in Bolivia! Has it fixed the problem ?
Guest morpheus2702 Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Hi mate - still waiting on the phone but I thought that after a month, sod it give me a new phone! Get it tonight so will let you know what happens. Cheers again for your help.
Guest madu Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 The best way to backup your phone is to follow this guide http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=2628 If you have a new bootloader (Canary 0.98+), which is most likely the case, then the best thing to do is have a look here first: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=3963
Guest vijay555 Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 How much is the sync cable from O2? it should work, i got one (spv/xda) off ebay for about £8, so curious. would rather buy from o2, but they tend to factor in the Rip-Off quotient. Also, does it charge from USB? V
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 XDA sync and charge cables work fine they just fit back to front on the SPV compaired to the XDA. I use a sync and charge cable, and if you join Modaco Plus you get 10% dicount on a Boxwave minisync retractable cable (very handy for traveling) as one of the many bonuses for joining :D. If you decide to join plus just say I "cough" recommened "cough" you
Guest vijay555 Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 awarner - how much are the boxsync cables? i'm M+ member already, but got a charge/sync cable previously. however, curious about the price. Any chance of us getting those headsets that allow u to plug in normal 3.5mm 'phones? I don't think Modaco is partnered with anyone that sells those yet, right? V
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 No specials on the headsets at the moment but you never know in the future. As for boxwave here's some more details Boxwave or the company that do the headset also do a sync cable Pc-Mobile
Guest morpheus2702 Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Thanks for the offer mate but nipped into an O2 shop and got one for £17 - probably a rip but hey, got a new SPV delivered when they said it would come, GPRS works just dandy and I am a happy camper!
Guest davidhorn Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I gave up on Orange replacing my phone for free after the end of the headset plug got stuck inside the socket. No calls could be made or received, yet Orange maintained it was my fault for damaging the plug. So, £30 for a new phone and a year's worth of Orange care. Yesterday, I fell against a sharp edge - my phone saved me from what could have been a rather painful injury and commited suicide spectacularly - the screen's cracked in about 20 different places and the casing's falling off. Fortunately, the battery was fine. So, my new phone is coming tomorrow. I had to use a plastic bag to send all the bits back in
